    Desert Eagle refinishing

I'm getting ready to send my black DE50 back to Magnum research for a refinish. I'm thinking of going with brushed chrome. I was told by the Mag Research rep to just mail in my gun and a letter of what I want done. Can anyone give me some insight on the process or offer any type of feedback?

    I send mine a month ago for some tune-up +refinish (matte chrome)+muzzle break+night sight.
They told me is going to take 2-4 months =(

But yes, send it in with a note and they will contact you once they get it.

I called them before on doing a 50AE conversion on a Non XIX model they told me to send it from a FFL Dealer and they will return it back to the same FFL Dealer.

The gun is already in the state and registered to the owner in the state. He can get it back without having to use an FFL. He can put his home address on it, drop it off at Fed Ex, and get it shipped back to his home. No problem.

I was going to send mine in to CCR for a House Black...I was looking into Techplate, too...there are some nice samples in their gallery.

you dont need to send it in to have a conversion done to make it a .50. They make a conversion/upgrade kit to upgrade the non modular models like the mark 7. I did this with mine. shipped straight to my door was a new slide, .50 barrel and a mag. Simple swap. Once that new slide is on it will be modular like the newer models

This is the company that magnum research uses for there finishing. http://www.fordsguns.com/

you can go directly to them for the process and maybe save yourself some time, however it will still be a good long wait.
