If you could create/design a gun

    ...what would it be?

    Here's mine:

It would be a 9mm Lightweight Champion Operator with a bobtail.

    OR

Some sort of gun made just for CA. A 10 round, single stacker made out of polymer, but with a 1911 trigger system without the manual thumb safety.

        A single-action, lightweight trigger without a safety?

        I sense incoming NDs.

I thought it was implied in that all 1911s have them, but I'd keep the grip safety. That's how XDs roll. Who said anything about light weight? Most production. 1911s are around 5.5lbs pull. Anyway, just thought it'd be interesting to see what features people really desire in their pistols.

I will make two "dream guns."

              My Revolver:

A modernized LeMat Revolver. A 9 or 10 round .357 mag cylinder revolving around 20 gauge center, instead of the old .42 cal cap and ball around a 16gauge center.

I bet you could build it on the S&W X frame. It would be the perfect camping gun. Powerful handgun rounds for hunting or whatever, and a 20gauge birdshot shell for snakes.

It could also be offered in .41 or .44 mag with a corresponding change in capacity.

              My Automatic:

Glock debuts their G40 - A Full size (G17 size, not G20) chambered from the factory for .22LR with a 30-40rd capacity. (Not sure what they could fit into those magazines) In super fantasy land it would also have a G18 style full auto selector switch cause hey, why not, but a regular semi auto would do fine.

Single stack Glock 9mm with 10rd mag capacity.

Never gonna happen but I can dream right?

Okay, I'll add a little: Sub-compact Glock 9mm single stack.

                    I would make the P90 into a 5.56mm

IDK, but here is a list of features that I would like:

                      1. 9mm
                      2. 3" barrel
                      3. single stack mag
                      4. grip long enough for 2 fingers, pinky tucked
                      5. frame as narrow as possible, .7" ?
                      6. DAO, short pull, 5lb, glock type trigger safety
                      7. grip safety
                      8. low profile tritium sights
                      9. single stack mag, rd count not terribly important
                      10 light weight
11 CZ type slide to make narrower?

basically a very narrow 9mm CCW gun. Length, height, width, weight, and safely reliable.

                      Kinda like this:

Only not so ugly, more reliable, and add a grip safety.

                      .

                        9mm
                        5' barrel
                        15 round double stack
                        Glock sights
                        All metal frame
                        Tank style dependabilty
                        It must have a hammer....

In a nutshell a cz75b with glock sights and a long barrel.

For most of us I think our perfect gun is a combo of 2/3 guns in one.

If I could make my own gun, it would be a nice pistol with no recoil, and a plastic ammo magazine/sleeve that would hold 200 rounds in a rectangular plastic tube that attaches to the underside of each arm up to the back of each shoulder, allowing full arm motion while accurately feeding ammo. It could be configured like a jacket. Slip it on, and you grab two pistols when your hands poke through the cuffs! With 400 rounds of belt-fed .40 and two reliable pistols, one could be a formidable foe in any SHTF scenario!

Don't know how "realistic" the post should be.....

my design will be a handgun preferrably in 9mm or bigger, in the same size as a regular 1911 or smaller with no slide! That's right, no slides just like a semi-automatic/automatic rifle. This eliminate the space needed for the slide to roll back after a round is fired.

In addition, the empty shells will go downard, instead of to the side, and go into a holder for the empty shells. This eliminate the need to find and grab empty shells after each shot.

At last, the barrel with a built-in silencer is 5 inches or less.

The ultimate handgun for assassination purpose for CIA operatives...........

                              A Carbine in 10MM

I would like a 10MM Carbine that took Glock 20 magazines (15 rounds)

Light and handy. Have a place to store a couple of extra mags in the buttstock. Ghost ring sites and a rail mount for various optics. Short as possible (26 inches). A mount below for a light.
May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Life Is Not About Waiting For The Storm To Pass - Its About Learning To Dance In The Rain.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).
