    CCW open carry question

I have a CCW in CA and live in a county with less than 200,000 people. Does this meet the requirement to open carry a loaded gun?

I believe so. But you should always confirm with the local AG and Sheriff.

Some say that it must say this on your permit, but don't want to ask the sheriff or he might think i am weird.

Yes - 12050 says, in counties < 200k, the permit can be issued in either concealed or open format, but has to be specific - it does have to say on the permit itself.

He can't think you're too weird - you qualified for the permit, after all.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Ask him about how to apply for another permit to also OC a loaded firearm.

After you have your CCW permit, you have to apply to amend your permit to authorize to carry loaded and exposed.

However, keep in mind that you can not have both types of permits. You can only have one or the other.

                Also...
CA CCW permit = good all over the state
CA open carry permit = only good in the county it is issued in.

forgive me for asking, but why would you want to carry open, loaded or not. you are exposed, and a potential "first strike" if you happen to be in the area of a criminal event.
That may be a CG first!

The sight of an armed citizen may be enough to stop a "criminal event" from occurring in the first place.
