    Taurus 608

Im trying to decide what I want my next gun to be. So far I want an AK, a piston AR, an M1 Garand and now a revolver lol. Well, funds are tight, so I can only get one and I would like the Taurus 608 to be the revolver I get should I choose to get one.

My question is, what do you guys think of the gun? Originally I wanted to get a GP100, but why settle for 6 rounds of .357 when I can have 8? Lol

I mostly want this gun to be a fun range gun for plinking and target shooting, but I also want to be able to rely on this gun in a pinch for home defense or zombies. :P

I have one. Accurate, easy to shoot, and 8 rounds of .357 mag! The bad...mine's nickel. It's blingy. It also has to go back to Taurus for light primer strikes with all ammo in double action. I haven't gotten around to sending it in yet due to the cost to ship a pistol. That and I'm afraid of how long Taurus will keep it. Maybe after christmas I'll get the stones to ship it out. My opinion, go for another brand. Ruger is only marginally more expensive and has a better track record with reliability. I'll probably keep mine only because it was my 18th birthday present from my dad, and my first pistol.

Last time I checked, the Taurus 608 was not on CA's "approved" list. I've checked numerous times over the past several years as it was a nifty 8-shot gun at a decent low price. I've never thought much of semi-autos from Taurus, but their revolvers are half-way decent. But Taurus just never seems to get it on the list. Having never been on the list, it will be a hard one to get in CA, even as a used gun.

If you want an 8-shot Revolver in .357 Mag, you'll have to get one from Smith & Wesson. I have a couple; they're OK - the 8-shot aspect is a novelty.

Doh! I forgot to check the "list"... stupid PRK....

My first choice was actually the SW 627, but like most SW's they're too expensive for my taste. Im looking for something less then$ 600

Less than $600? Get a Ruger or a used S&W. Taurus QC is spotty. You might get a good one, or you might get junk.
