    XD trigger upgrades...

    Hey all...

I'm looking for opinions and suggestions to upgrade the trigger on my XD9 4"
From the research I've done, I've found a few drop-in parts on pistolgear.com...
or send it off to Springer Precision.
    Any other suggestions?
I'd prefer to upgrade or modify the parts myself rather than have to send it off, but I haven't found any resources other than pistolgear.com's products.
All in all, I'm not trying to make a competition gun, I'd just prefer a shorter and lighter pull and reset than the stock trigger.
Let me know if any of you have some ideas or resources.
    Thanks!

I sent my XD40 Tactical to Springer Precision several months ago before the drop in sear was released.

The trigger is significantly lighter and the reset is better. There is still a bit of pretravel.

Bone stock, the trigger had a pull of about 7lbs. I had it set for 3-3/4lbs.

Did you notice any physical difference on the trigger or sear components withing the pistol itself?
      also...
Have you heard any praise on the new production sear and trigger bar now being offered?
I guess I'm just searching for the most economical approach. I'm a qualified metalsmith, but I always weigh cost to time spent.

No, I didn't notice any differences. But I never really studied the pistol before I sent it off for work.

As far as the drop in sear, I haven't heard anything. You should probably check the xdtalk forums where I'm sure people have posted reviews on it.

Good idea. I just like this forum better.

FYI: I just got a great once piece extended mag release button on ebay for $26 shipped; if you're interested.

FYI, If you look in the .45XD subforum of XDtalk there was a lengthy thread on the Springer drop in kit. Reviews seem good. I have been tempted to do this but may just send it to Springer and get the full treatment.

If I had an XD with a stock trigger, I'd risk the drop in kit. If I'm reading the Springer site correctly, it's $100, so it's about the same price as a trigger job. But you save a significant amount on shipping. It cost me $50 to ship my pistol to Springer (I don't recall how much I paid for return shipping, but it wasn't more than $50).

We manufacture the sear's, spring's, trigger bar's, and most of the other XD parts shops like Springer Precision are using. Properly installing the sear/springs/trigger bar will reduce take up travel by about 90%, over travel by about 95%, and with proper honing the trigger pull can be dropped to about 2.5 lbs. While the parts are often described as drop in they require some minor fitting in most XD's. If you have decent skills with hand tools and a good understanding of how the XD works you can install them easily in about 30 minutes or less.

If you are in the So Cal area we are at Prado in Chino and Raahauges in Norco for matches severak times a month and would happy to let you test fire one of demo pistols and we can install the kits while you wait. If you are in Northern Cal area we are going to be at the IDPA State Championships in Richmond California the first weekend in July and will be bringing demo pistols and kits ready to install.

I am intrigued as well. This may get me to commit to the XD trigger job.

How about giving us some dates & time for the next couple of months or so? Cost? (Email that info if necessary. Having problems in accessing your web site.) I would rather get the trigger job done locally than sending off for it.

+1 I would like to know this as well. I used to got to Prado all the time but haven't been in a year or so. It's about time to get back out there.

Thanks for the feedback trigger play.
