I wouldnt put any rounds that say "Dead Right There" in my gun from a liability standpoint. Stick with the SXT Rangers and youll be just fine.

I run the winchester PDX1 in 9mm , basically a bonded ranger sxt which goes all the way back to black talons, this aint new jersey , hollowpoints arent illegal here.

also I would NEVER use the exotic extreme shock or DRT BS, just get yourself Winchesters based on the sxt bullet (Rangers SXT, black talons, pdx1) Hornady Critical Defense or any bullet that uses the Barnes X-TAC hollow point (corbon dpx)

              Sound advice!

Black Talons are inferior to the Ranger T's. And yes there are perfectly legal to own and use.

saw a Cops episode from somewhere in the south and the cops were giving a local grief for having hollowpoint ammo.
                IIRC it went kinda like;
Cop: Where'd you get the hollowpoints?
                Citizen: Walmart.
Cop #2: Walmart? Not a chance.
Cop: These are illegal for anyone but LE and Military.

I thought it was a bunch of FUD.

Black Talons are not illegal, they are just prohibited to be manufactured anymore. Kind of a collectors item.

The above are true, SXTs or T-Series are better. They've been improved since the original Black Talons.

Ha-ha-ha! They are, in fact, “illegal” for the military.

SXT stands for Same Xact Thing (as black talons)

Black Talons was too scary and fluffy bunny bullets just didnt sound scary enough.

And within the last year Gen 4 of the "black talon" came out. Still called a Ranget SXT, but the design, weight retention and expansion is substantially more (better) than the gen 3 SXT. At least that is what the display board showed with actual fired rounds through different mediums.

Hard to tell the difference by looking at the 9mm. But the 45's pedals have a different shape at opening and bullet has more pointed taper to tip.

Any Ranger T is in CA.

                            FUD.

You dont face any extra liability for the ammo you select under the law. There have been examples of prosecutors making an issue over HP ammo generically under dubious shooting circumstances, yet no one is suggesting sticking to ball ammo. Shoot what you like, and avoid stuff like DRT because its hokey and probably doesn't work instead of what some prosecutor might do that can easily be countered by a competent defense attorney.

Hollowpoints may be illegal in their city or state. Sparkler fireworks are illegal here. I believe hollow points are against the Geneva Convention, so the military is not suppose to have them. I don't think Black Talon HP are illegal here, but they don't sell them anymore.
