    Streamlight tlr-3

Has anyone else had this issue? My TLR-3 is on a Sig226 R that gets no use other than the occasional trip to the range. No hot loads, no +P, no tools used to tighten the thumbscrew other than a coin. Sits in a handgun vault most of its boring life.

And yet yesterday, when I took it out of the handgun vault, the light literally fell off. The rail clamp, that is made of plastic just snapped off on its own.

I am sending it to streamlight to see how much they back up their lifetime warranty. I'll see how their customer service is.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

**********As an addendum, Streamlight was very quick to remedy my situation. See post #10 ***************

Streamlight customer service is excellent. They have given me free parts to repair my TLR-3 no questions asked.

I have had no issues with my TLR-3, just switched it from my xd to my Sig today and it is just as good as the day I got it.

That could have gotten you killed in certain situations.

I have a TLR-2, but it has metal clamps. I'm surprised that the TLR-3 has plastic ones because it would seem pretty easy to over tighten them and bend them like you did. Good luck on getting it fixed.

Hopefully Streamlight will take care of it.

SIG's rails are a bit out of spec. So it could have contributed to your problem.

I think you are right, I notice a slight cant on one of the clamps because of the rails don't match perfectly.

Just as a follow up, one week later Streamlight mailed back a brand new TLR-3. Great customer service!

I'll tighten it with a coin again, but this time, I'll put 1/4 turn less, and hope it doesn't fall off.

I've got TLR-3s mounted on my SIG 228 and XD9. I've had no issues and have been very satisfied. Glad to hear that Streamlight took care of you.

looks like that polymer casting was bad. thats sucks! I had a TLR2 and it never had any problems. I also have a blackhawk xiphos and its entirely made out of polymer, also no problems.
