    series 70

I have a Colt 1911 Gov model series 70. My only complaint is that the sights are black and when shooting at a black target, the sights tend to blend in with the target. Should I have them replaced with "white" outlined sights or try to paint them myself with some type of florescent paint? Any suggestions? Thanks, Larry.

you could paint them if you want. I would send out for sight cuts and install more visible sights with a cleaner sight picture. A fiber opitc front helps me alot in acquisition of the target.

Replace them with night sights - the space for the night sight will be a contrasting color to a black target, and the posts will still have a black outline for lighter target. This also gives you a nice option for low-light shooting.

If that's not your cup of tea, check out a white bar and dot sight (dunno the exact name), or paint it yourself.

If you're shooting bullseye, I always use a 6 o'clock hold and find the black contrasts very well against the tan paper. Leave a sliver of it with the target setting on top.

If you're shooting center mass type tagets then white outline helps alot.
