I've never had any issues from leaving my magazines loaded for extended periods of time. I keep almost all my spare magazines loaded all the time. Loading and unloading them will put more wear on the mag springs than keeping them loaded, but I really wouldn't worry about that either.

Nope. Nothing wrong with keeping your mags load for a long period of time. nd no, your spring will it wear out.

I keep magazines loaded and then shoot them off at the range when I go. Then loaded again...Always be prepared.

It's terribly bad. Don't do it. It will lead to catastrophic failure in your gun.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Ah, this question hasn't come up in awhile.

Keeping mags loaded doesn't affect them. It's the repeated compression and release that wears out the springs. You can leave a magazine loaded for 100 years and they will function just fine. Basic spring physics, I guess.

I have both loaded and unloaded mags. I cycle mine about every 60 days weather i shoot or just unload and load the others...

Chuck Taylor says its bad to keep em fully loaded.. he short loads his GLock 17 mags by two rounds, according to the 300,000 round test of his that I read. He swears since he started doing that he hasn't worn out a magazine, including some that came with his pistol 20 years ago.

Don't shoot the messenger, although I respect their reliability and popularity, I'm not a GLock guy

My personal experience with long term storage has been with 1911's. I load the magazine and insert it and chamber a round. So my magazine is "short loaded" by one round. I've not had any problems doing it that way, and to be honest most 7 round magazines in 1911's have a bit of slack left with 7 rounds inserted, they're not at coil bind.

I left one of my XDSC magazines fully loaded with 10rds for a couple of months. Today I just noticed one of the rounds at the bottom rattles inside now. Only happens with 10 rounds loaded not 9.
