You made the right call. The TRPs are nice, but for my money the MC Operator is all I need.

Not exactly "hand fitted", but still nice.

I say MCO over TRP. Too much on the TRP I didn't need.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

I'd take the MC op over the TRP only if itwas one ofthe earlier versions with the straightcuton the dust coveras opposed to the slanted one in the newer ones tha matches the slide serrations. For purely aesthetic reasons.

TRP for the win! Bushingless and front strap checkering. Just picked mine up.

Can't miss with either one of those beauties. I say it is which one do you like the look of best since they will both shoot very well.

That decision would be like asking a parent which of your kids do you love more? The TRP with half rail would be the better shooter, but that full rail on the MC Operator is just awesome looking. I see fewer Operators out there, so I'd go with that one first.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Do you want rail attachments? MC Operator
Want a classic non railed 1911? TRP

Third option: TRP Operator (if you can get your hands on one this is probably the best bet)
The "best" handgun caliber debate rages on, meanwhile I just keep buying low recoil 00 buck.
