    Which one to get?

So I have an opportunity to purchase one of the following:

    Sigma $350
    P85 $350
    G19 (1st gen) $425

Which one should I buy (I know that's a "loaded" question, but I always see these recommended as 1st guns to get) and why. This will be my first gun and as an FYI I've never fired a gun before.
    Tia,

Pick up the Glock they may be ugly, but they are almost bullet prof. Don't wast your money on the other two. Go and take some classes to learn safe handling and proper use. There is nothing that scares me more than a newbie at the gun range. I encourage new gun ownership just please find a mentor.

If you aren't far from Rancho Cucamonga (Magnum Range), you're more than welcome to try out my Glock 19 when it gets out of jail. I can show you the basics.

Of the three, I'd personally go with the Ruger or Glock, which ever was a better deal used. Just remember that not everyone's hands and arms are the same and it's best to try them out first by renting, etc. Good luck

        WTB used AK MFER.

If you have never fired a gun before you need to. Until you try a few out you probably don't know what you are looking for. It's a very personal choice as to what fits your hand properly, how much recoil you can handle, and what kind of sights work well for your eyes. You also need to consider what you are going to use your first gun for. Is it a fun gun for the range? Will you use it for self defense? Are you going to take up a shooting sport? Those are all good, reliable guns, so the rest depends on you.

agree one hundred percent. motivator right now is the availability/pricing and gun being practically delivered by the dealer who is a trusted family friend.

Get the Ruger or Glock, the Sigma was a PITA for me. Worst trigger EVER.

That makes things easier. I'm assuming you can have a chance to handle these guns then, and see what "feels" right to you. You ever been to one of those hippie "spirituality" stores where they sell the crystals and everything? Well, I have (Once, with a friend. I can't believe I just admitted that.") They tell you to hold the crystal and try to "feel" which once calls to you. It's the same with guns. You will know which one is meant for you once you give it a try.

The PC answer is to try each of them and get what works for you. There are some folks out there who actually, for some reason or another, prefer the Ruger or Sigma ... maybe they can shoot better with them or they prefer the design ... who knows? So try them all.

But, man to man, my answer would be to get the Glock.

                          ^^^ This.

Local shop let me fondle and dry fire a Sigma recently. Never felt something so bad. (otoh I have been spoiled by several wonderful Colt 1911's).

Of the three choices the Glock wins imo.
