Springfield XDm

I am looking at purchasing a handgun and have been drooling st these XDm's online. Does anyone have an honest review on these? I suppose I should find a range that rents them, but I like hearing real opinions based on experience. I am pretty sure .45 would be the caliber I would choose.

First let me ask, are you roster exempt for some reason, such as , are you law enforcement?

As far as I know, all the XDM's are not Cali approved, and unless you can get around the roster, if you are a Cali resident, you cant buy one new from a dealer, you can however buy one from a private party, or have a out of state child, parent or grandparent gift you one.

I don't like them. They just look funny. They do have a few perks over a glocks but the perks are like putting new paint in a porta potty.

It's really gonna be more of the feel. Go find both at a shop and pick them up. I always vote for a glock

No, I am not exempt, but thanks for the info - I figured the high capacity mag's would be out, but didn't know they were out altogether. So I am allowed to buy from a private party or gift? Looks like I had better study the rules, eh?

Dont let that bother you about any XD, I loved mine, and would love to buy another one, yes I wish it was made in the US, but it's better than made in China! Quality is still top notch.

Yes once teh firearm is in Cali, it can then be legally transferred to any one (who is legal to buy) face to face in a private party transfer. So if some one like a police officer (roster exempt) buys one, and then decides to sell it, it's fair game for all.

Or like I mentioned, search intrafamily interstate transfer, that's another way to legally acquire one.

The SA XDm is a great gun. When I had a XDm-9 I really liked it. Unfortunately they are not on the CA Approved list.

I am looking at 1911's, but the SA website caught my eye with those dang XDm's with a 19 round capacity....hehehe

I plan to get an automatic and a single action, but the cowboy in me will have to wait 'til next year.

I'm going to try some at the shooting range and see what fits my hands.

Yes that's true, off subject but once there was a movie called A Day Without a Mexican, it was about what it would be like if all the Illegal Mexicans suddenly dissapeared over night, could you just imagine what it would be like to try to go through a day without a Chinese made product? this country would come to a screeching halt.

I love Made in the USA, but when it comes to firearms, many of the best ons are not made in the US, like the XD's,

When my wife was deploying to Iraq, I was checking out her M-16, I was shocked to see it was made by FN, maybe in the US, but I wanted to see a Made in the USA "COLT" logo on it.

Some early XD's had some finish issues, but I believe those have been corrected,

And if you do acquire a XDM through private party or family transfer from out of state, you still have to get only ten round mags with it, so if a family member sends one to your Cali FFL for you, they can not send the high caps mags assembled, they would have to be sent disassembled as repair parts, you will have to buy 10 rounders to use in Cali, you could only reassemble the high caps as high caps for out of state use, then disassemble them prior to returning to Cali.
