Probably no problem. What you can do is lock the slide back; take a punch and push in the firing pin; while the pin is pushed in, slide the firing pin stop down and out. Be careful not to let the firing pin fly backwards because of the spring tension..hahah.
Now you can just slide out the extractor and take a look. The extractor will be on the right side on the back of the slide. It's a simple thing to look at and remove/install.
You might want to remove the slide first.May the Bridges I burn light the way.

The extractor is a piece of spring steel, and should not be 100% stiff. "A little loose" is difficult to define though. If you mean it was a tiny bit bendy, or even rocked in place a TINY bit - then what you are describing is normal for an average 1911.
The important question is if the gun is actually functioning and ejecting properly. If it is, then that only confirms you don't have a problem.sigpic

I can feel the extractor move at the rear of the slide. It moves forward and back slightly, and it spins slightly."The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who are not."

I would take it out and check for wear on the extractor. A little (very little) movement is normal but if it is rattling around, I believe you may have a problem. Check your firing pin spring to ensure that there is a MINIMUM of three coils from the tip of the firing pin.OIF Wounded Veteran | USMC 2111/ArmorerComment

Pretty much normal.
The "oversize" firing pin stop plates can be purchased and then hand fitted to your gun to remove all the play.
But a little play is a good thing as it allows some working room for slightly out of spec ammo or a slightly mis-fed round.
If the gun is reliably extracting, I would not worry about it.
