S&W Sigma .40 should i get it?

have the opportunity for a great deal on a sigma from a family member. i've shot it before but not enough to entirely form an opinion. however, i want to buy a .40 and the others i like are quite cost-prohibitive. by all accounts the sigma is a decent pistol so i'm thinking i should probably just go for it. worst-case scenario i can sell it later and get something else. opinions?

I've owned my 9mm for over 10 years and have zero complaints. It is what it is a less expensive Glock clone.

you can get them NIB for $300 plus tax/dros

for $250 or less i would buy a used one if it's a gen 2 gun. many of the early 40s had problems.

well, it'll be from my dad who bought it new and i'll wager has less than 1000 rds through it. not sure on the price but i'm sure it'll be "extremely" reasonable. nevermind the 9-dollar intra-familial transfer fee as opposed to a ten-day wait and 25-50 dollars so yeah, it'll be a good deal. my brother has a USP compact that i liked, and i also like the steyr m40, but they're both a bit pricey in comparison, as well as lacking the availability. i think i'll go for it. i already have a .38/.357 and a .45, so i need a .40. don't really want a 9, at least not any i can afford so i think this'll be a good buy. i read some reviews which were 95% positive, but wanted to poll the audience here. now i know, thanks for the advice gentlemen. i know it's old-fashioned, but i've always been weird about pistols without hammers. i know striker-fired guns work, and have for a long time, but they just feel funny to me. gotta get with the times though, try new things. thanks again, i'll let you know how it goes.

I had a 9mm Sigma. I never had a jam or any problems. I personally didn't like the heavy trigger pull, but if you are used to shooting double action revolvers, it shouldn't be a problem. It is what it is, a reliable gun with a horrible trigger (IMHO).

I have around 3k rounds through my .40ve. I don't hate it, not for what I paid for it $350otd new. But IMHO if I were to go back in time I would spend $200 more for a Glock22. I find it easy to set groupings with my Glock but even after 3k rounds through the sigma it is hard to even get a 4 inch grouping @ 7yrds.

well, i do shoot a double-action revolver so perhaps the horrid trigger pull won't bother me so much. worst-case, i can sell it later and buy something else. for now, i think it's a go. thanks all.

sigma 9 here. trigger pull was terrible, other than the gun works great.

i searched around online about the trigger on it and i decided to try the mods i had seen. the one i did involves removing a couple srpings. cut trigger pull in half of what it was. people commented it would casue failure to fires, but in 2k rounds since doing it i have one ftf, and that was with a reload.

i think they have a rebate going on right now too, ldont recall exact price with rebate, but it was under 300.

I bought one that was never fired, all black, with nioght sights for $200 with everything like new. Even the $600+ reciept. I sold it to my causin for $300 and he loves it and wont sell it back to me.lol.
