    How many is too many?

How many guns is too many?

In other words, how many guns would someone need to have before you would consider them a "gun nut"?

Personally I consider anyone who hates guns a "Gun Nut".

I know, lol, biased bunch. Wasn't sure how to ask it.

Another way: before you started collecting, before you were into guns, what would you have considered a gun nut (knowing full well you've far exceeded that by now)?

I'll tell you what I think. I don't think a number equals a gun nut in the pejorative sense. Guns are collector's items, and a hobby, for many of us. Unfortunately if you have a lot of them some people use a derogatory term to describe you. This is sad to me because "car nut" doesn't have nearly the negative connotations. As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as a "gun nut". There is only someone who collects guns. Anyone who is nutty about guns is probably just a nut.

Never have too many. 10-20 is just scratching the surface of having a decent assortment.

You only have two many guns when you can't get into the house any longer.

The number of firearms one owns has nothing to do with being a "gun nut" or not.

More than 1 is too many according to some members here.

I would agree with that in reference to people who are unfamiliar with guns but I doubt there are many members of calguns who think this.

I would say having just one gun is enough for most to think your a "nut".

You can't have too many until you start having identical multiples of several firearms.

For example, if you want to have one of each type of M-1 carbine, that's quite a few different guns. But if you have 27 IBMs that each have identical features, and you don't have 26 friends and family members to shoot them with you, you may have too many.
