Ok since every1 seems to only want to talk about glocks anyway I might as well ask some glock questions, First off what makes a glock so damn great? Is it the way the guns are put together? The quality? What is it that makes a glock better than a Sig or HK or any other polymer pistol? (of course thats a matter of opinion) Personally Im not a big fan of glocks, they all look the same like either big black bricks or little black bricks lol. Now that I got some hating out of the way, as I said in a previous post im going to be either getting a Glock 21SF or 20. It will mostly be a packpackin/HD/range gun so all you glock lovers can you please educate me on both as far as which round is better for said jobs, also do you think the 10mm is going to stick around for a while? Or will it slowly fade away?

When you compare all of these things to any other gun company, none of them come close IMO.Chris

This is slightly confusing... you're asking what's so great about Glock, but yet you've already narrowed down your options to either a G21SF or G20?
Something made you pick between those two guns, so your question has probably already been answered. Are you looking for confirmation or reassurance that you're making a good decision?Comment

For me, its mostly the simplicity, consistency, and durability. I can't think of any other gun that has a more durable finish and metal treatment than Glock. Its great at doing what it does and it really doesn't give the illusion that its trying to do anything more. I don't personally own any Glocks, but have shot a lot in all different varieties. I respect the hell out of a company that has focused so much on NO BS combat guns (for the most part). I'm more of a Sig guy, but even I have to admit that a lot of the extra-bling BS they do makes me shake my head.Last edited by gorenut; 11-04-2010, 11:20 AM.Comment

They are relatively light weight, that's nice if you carry a gun all day. And with the exception of an apparent tendency to explode with reloaded ammo they are reliable.
Personally I dont like them, for me the balance is all wrong and something about the grip does not work for me, I can usually shoot a 2 inch group at 20 yards with my revolver, 4 inch with my CZ 75, but with a glock I am lucky if I can keep all the rounds on the paper.Yes, I am an electrical engineer.

Glocks are good because of the low price (relatively) and good reliability. I wouldn't say there are many options for them because for one, I can't change the grips on them.
They are simple. They are easy to take down and especially easy to put back together.
They are like Honda Accords or Toyota Camrys. They are practical. They get the job done with minimal fuss. But you wouldn't collect them like Ferraris.Comment

A lot of people like them......Thats makes other guns more available for me!"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."~M.Twain~Comment

9mm Glocks are my preference but I've owned 7 Glocks so far and shot 30,000+ rounds through them with minimal issues and those were from aftermarket recoil springs. Glocks tend to be extremely durable and very forgiving to little maintenance which has been proven and echoed by many well known Firearm Instructors who see hundreds of thousands of rounds annually. Some of these classes see 2,000 rounds in a weekend w/o cleaning which pushes a gun hard and 9mm Glocks, older P226's, M&P's and newer HK's tend to do the best while others fail more often. I've shot a few 600+ round days with my old Glock 34 and the only problem was induced by me riding the slide stop trying to push myself to be faster. Ask most ranges what the most durable long lasting gun they have and they're usually Glocks. Glock not only does well in the civiallian market but dominates the LEO market with 65% of the share while at the same time the top Production Class competitors tend to use either the Glock or M&P.My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment
