How do I tell a "square butt" from a "round butt" on a model 66-4? Is it as obvious as taking the grips off to take a look?

It is obvious on any model S&W once you take the grips off, or with the grips on as long as they aren't target grips. On a K-frame revolver with a square butt the bottom of the grip frame measures about 1 7/8", a round butt will be comsiderably shorter. Plus the back strap on a round butt will look somewhat round compared to a square butt, due to the percieved hump where the grip frame narrows.
