S&W model 36 missing cylinder release?

I was looking at my dads Model 36 the other day and when I pulled it out of his holster we noticed the cylinder release was missing, we couldn't find it any where, all that is there is a threaded shaft sticking out.

Any one know what we need? it doesn't look like a screw that has had the head broken off, it looks too clean but maybe it is? or is there some type of screw with an inner hole that threads down over this? not sure of year of manufacture since I didst record the S/N.

Also any ideals where to get parts? and value of a clean 36 round butt?

Parts: look inside the crane for the model # such as 36, 36-1, 36-2 etc...then pick the correct parts list here:

Value: you have to see what others are selling for...anything special about this 36? Beaters at $300-350, better at $400; etc.
New in box with papers, special version, etc $6-7-800????

I don't think there is any thing special about his gun, I've only seen it the one time the other night and I was in a hurry, I looked and believe it's just a 36 round but, he got it to replace his 30+ yr old back up Airweight that was stolen, picked it up from a neighbor, but I'm sure he would prefer an Airweight, would it be a bad move to sale it and buy a modern 642? or try to find an old Airweight like he use to have, he just carry's it around in a fanny pouch or such, retired CHP Capt.

Any ideal what a model number would be on a very old Airweight? I'm guessing it was 45 years old.
