I know someone who has a Bersa Thunder .380 that works flawless. I've heard nothing but good things about them and they're very affordable. Here's a review on them:

All of my Sigs, Glocks, and HKs have been "perfect", meaning they required no break-in period and had no failures of any kind whatsoever. Call me spoiled but that's how I expect my firearms to perform.

My girlfriend has a Bersa Thunder .380 and with one exception it has run flawlessly. Has about 1,200 rounds thru it. I have debated getting one for myself. Fun little gun, very affordable, eats whatever ammo we can feed it.

The one exception is that the grip screws work themselves loose. Little dab of locktite solved that problem.

Agreed. I own a Bersa Thunder .380 and it's a fabulous copy of the PPK.

Stick to BERSA magazines, though. The Promags are a waste of time.

It is my favorite carry gun. Like it much better than my Glock 26.
            Have an Interarms model.
Never had a problem with it. Bought it used.
You do have to watch the web of you hand getting cut.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

What you are saying is that your guns are reliable out of the box. But that is a far-far cry from being perfect.

Hindsight is 20/20. I have guns that have had absolutely no failures in the past. Does that make them perfect or reliable? To me no. I do expect them to fail in the future (and when I least expect them to) and always plan and train appropriately.

For the sake of completeness, I thought I'd update. I installed the heavier 24 lb. spring from Wolff Springs in my PPK/S, and I am happy with it. It doesn't make a huge difference, but it helps. After 100 rounds or so the web of my hand still gets red, but at least it doesn't make my hand bleed like it used to. I think it will help to get replacement grips with better handswells too.

It would be important to note that I just rented a Sig 232 and I encountered a jam and slide bite (this has been reported with the ppk/s).
