    Opinions on Kimber quality.

What is your honest opinion of Kimber 1911s. Are they the best quality-price? Any modes I should stay away from?
I have a Custon CDP II, opinions? Quality, reliability, etc...
    Thanks in advance.

I have a custom CDP II and it's as fine an arm as I've ever gotten new-in-box. Has routinely digested nine out of ten different types of ammo with not a single hiccup. And that's during break-in. It did not like Mag-Tech, but then I'm not a fan of it either.

    Been very satisfied with performance-for-dollar-spent.

Kimber makes good products. I don't think they are the be all and end all of 1911s like I have seen expressed before. Some people dislike them because they seem to take a break in period of at least a few hundred rounds, but that's just 1911s for you. Some Kimbers aren't that expensive too. Same good quality though.

If you have a CDP 2 why don't YOU tell US how it is?
What do you mean my birth certificate expired?

Of my five Kimbers I had minor issues with one. Kimber produces more 1911's than anyone so there are bound to be more people sho have issues. If 1% have issues and they make 100,000 then 1,000 people will have issues where as If they only produced 10,000 100 people would.

A couple of years ago they palyed around with external extractors but have since discontinued. As far a mim parts...I have had NO issues with them. At aome point, All parts break and wear.

I have not bought a Kimber in the last couple of years. So I can't speek for how they are now. The one's that I do own, have never had a problem. Would I hesitate to buy one tomorrow, if I had the fund? Nope.

Loaded opinion because I own one.
I feel quality is top notch, looks are sexy as heck, the trigger will make you giddy, and reliability is worth my life. There is, however, a slight break-in period because it has very tight tolerances from the factory. Shoot it, clean it, lube it, love it. (that almost sounds dirty

My Kimber Target Stainless II was a hell of a deal if you ask me. Less than 1k out the door inc Dros, tax, ect. Not one failure of any kind during break in.. Tack driver and runs super smooth. Excellent fit and finish for a manufactured 1911. I love to hear all the internet bashing of Kimber that goes on though. Makes me laugh. My research has shown me that every maker of tight fighting 1911s has issues especially early in break in.

I have TLE/IIRL + old Eclipse - both are reliable and shot well.

For a $1k 1911, this is relatively good deal for this 1911.

Yes I do. I have not had a chance to shoot it. I got it last week. I am just looking to find opinions. I really like mine, it looks high quality, but have not shot it yet.
                        Thanks

Yeah, it was a little confuseing because people generally look for opinions BEFORE they buy a particular handgun. Any opinions at this point would just be making you feel good/bad about what you have. I'm sure you'll have plenty of opinions on it yourself once you get out and shoot it.

Kimbers are good quality guns, and I think very good for a production 1911. The amount of work that they put into them obviously depends on the model you purchase, but even the CDPs are good.

There are some complaints about MIM parts, but it's been mostly a theoretical complaint, since the failure rate I've seen evidence of indicated to me that it was pretty low. I have not experienced any issues with MIM parts, in either my Kimber or STI 1911s.
