Went to the indoor range to shoot today since I got off work early. Decided to bring my 9mm and .40s&w. Shot the .40 first, 45 bullets out of the 50 round Wally World Federal Champion box. Switched over to the 9mm and fired half the 9mm Federal Champion box. Changed my paper target then pushed it out to the 70 foot* mark. Decided to shoot the .40 first on the fresh target to see the accuracy. Grabbed 2 bullets and loaded the magazine. POP! "WTF" I tbought I had my first squib. I hold the pistol towards the target... I drop the magazine and think back what happens when a squib occurs.. I set the pistol down (pointed down range). I know the round didn't feel like a regular .40. It had no kick. I look at the magazine... HELLO! someone grabbed two bullets from the 9mm Federal box!! I pull back the slide and there rolled out a 9mm Luger casing.. Hahaha. I check the chamber and barrel, no obstructions, I load a .40 (checked twice) and it fired fine.. Hahaha.. Ooops.
Lesson learned. Pay attention when reloading magazines at the shooting range with different caliber pistols.
Has this happened to anyone? Or did I just pull a big time dufus move?
