    44 Desert Eagle or 45 ACP 1911?

    44 Desert Eagle or 45 ACP 1911?

I have 9mm and 7.62x25 but I always wanted a powerful gun for range fun. I am only interested in the 44 DE due to cost restrictions I cant afford to blast a 50AE much. and yes I know a DE wont be carried but sure looks fun. A 1911 45 ACP is a bette all arounder but is weaker. How much more powerful is the DE 44? What are your thoughts?

    Thanks.

Go with the DE.. with the way they are dropping off the list left and right you might not be able to get one with out paying a raped price.. you can always get a 1911 when your ready to purchase one.. get the .50AE conversion while your at it.. what's the point of having a DE if its not going to be .50 caliber.?

Odd comparison.... But I'd go with the 1911. I think you'll get more use out of it. If you want it for the novelty then go for the DE. Plus .44RM aren't exactly cheap to shoot.

Well I have a DE in .50AE and a few 1911s. If I could only own one gun and had to choose between my favorite 1911 and the DE... I would sell the DE in a heartbeat.

              Go with a 10MM

With Double Tap you more power than a .45. More like a .41 magnum.
Very managable in the Glock platform. Not as expensive as .44 or .50ae.

Glock 20 Zombie buster or Glock 29.

I have a SA 1911, a Glock 19, a S&W .40 and a 44. DE with a factory muzzle brake. - The DE is more accurate and way more fun to shoot than any of the others.
Mine only seems to like +P Ammo though which does get pretty pricey.
Buy the Desert Eagle, you won't be sorry.

How big's yer hand? I ask because the DE has a HUGE grip - I can't use one and I have big hands.

Grab one and see for yourself.

I would normally say "duh, get a 1911."

BUT since you are already rocking a Tokarev, oddball guns might be your thing, and you might be a lot happier with the Desert Eagle.

You'd certainly have your bases covered: A small, not often encountered, wickedly penetrating automatic, and a huge, ungodly powerful, not often encountered automatic.

This is just a range gun, right? You're shooting paper targets, so I don't think you need to worry about the .45 ACP round not having enough penetrating power.

1911's are, for some people if they can choose only one gun, the gun to get. Besides reliability and accuracy, you have tons of after market parts to choose from. You can do a lot of modification on 1911's. If you want to have more power for a 1911, go with +P ammos. Or, like other Calgunners suggested, go with a 1911 in 10mm.

Desert Eagle with .44 magnum, on the other hand, are pretty fun to shoot with. You don't see a desert eagle in the range often and the sound of a .44 magnum will keep people away from your booth when you shoot. I heard there are problems with the gas system. I had a semi-auto shotgun which had gas system before and I had to clean the gun very well so I'm sure it's just the cleaning part.

I'm sure no matter which gun you decide to go with, you'll have fun with them.

Got a DE in all the flavors. Love em. Used to shoot them allot.
The .357 is my favorite. More cost effective

1911 is an a must have as well

Wouldn't want to have to pick between them.
                              Gotta have them both
