I hear alot of flak about the unsupported chamber. Just wondering if there are other manufacturers that have unsupported chambers as well?

Glock = Kaboom
JK. While I admit it was a small concern I had. It didn't/wouldn't stop me from trusting my life to one. I'm sure there are other MFG's that don't have supported chambers. I will admit I personally don't notice a difference in glock "unsupported" and xd "fully supported" chambers

I second those thoughts.
I have a glock 23 and despite the whole unsupported chamber thing and getting the dreaded "glock bulge" on the brass it has been flawless.
I will say that my sig is much nicer on brass than my glock though.
Not that I reload so I can't say how it affects reloading but I do collect it on occasion (whenever in BLM i always do).Comment

Sirgiles nailed it.
In my very humble opinion, this all started with a batch of Fiocchi Red Box .40 that was imported in the mid-late 90's. Stuff was pretty hot and the brass was a little sub-standard. This along with the 'unsupported chamber' of the Glock, along with their popularity at the time (more guns equals more opportunity for all sorts of anecdotal evidence) led to some KBs and the myth just grew from there.
Again, just my .02/Chris

i've seen just such a cure in action, and the difference is amazing. Of course, you need a good barrel to take advantage. Good support, well built, tight chamber.
I think the biggest problem with glock-bulge... is for reloaders. it makes it a pain in the *** for people to do a proper sizing on a bulged piece of brass. Some pro reloading companies don't even fully address this. There've even been a few posts of people asking why a few of their bulk pack of reloads will stick when trying to chamber. The answer was... you have a tight chamber, and the case has a bit of the ol' glock-bulge.
If you're using factory ammo, and it isn't +p+ firing out of an aluminum case... don't worry too much about the case being fully supported... unless you reload your own, then you either want a new barrel, or a push-through sizing die.Originally posted by greasemonkey1911's instill fairy dust in the bullets, making them more deadly.Comment
