9mm for small hands. P225, USPC or 1911?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for a gun that my girl can shoot comfortably. Like most women, she has small hands. I know the easy route is to go to a range with all the guns I'm considering, but that is surprisingly harder than it sounds. Here's what I've narrowed the field down to:

    Sig P225, HK USPC9 or a 9mm 1911.

The Sig P225 is an easy choice for me b/c I love Sigs and I'm used to the ergonomics (my primary gun is a P220ST). However, I've had an HK itch lately, hence my considering a USPC9.

For those who have both, how do they compare? Both in grip size and shooting feel. This is not going to be a carry weapon, just a home defense and range gun.

The 9mm 1911 is the one that really intrigues me. I've never had a chance to shoot one in 9mm, but love them in .45. How does the 1911 platform perform in a 9mm chambering? Are they as reliable as their .45 counterparts?

    How about a Glock 26 ?

I have a daughter-in-law with the small hand thing
And she Really likes the Baby Glock 26 with the little Mag extension thing on it

maybe look at a p239 since you seem to be into the single stack sigs and tbh, xd's since the ergos are phenomenal on them as well and really manageable recoils...

Has she shot the 3 pistols that you listed? If she did, which one she likes shooting best?
        That will be your answer.

Not the USPc, it's a double stack.

The P225 is a fantastic, trouble free choice.

the P225 is known for it's user friendly ergonomics to those with small hands....

it also is part of the older Sig Sauer P series lineage; old world craftsmanship with practical application.

If you have narrowed it down to the list above, I won't recommend what I think she probably would like best (i.e. Ruger SR9/SR9c). Of your already narrowed down list, 1911. I have never met anyone that didn't love shooting a 1911, what is not to love? Have her hold a SA EMP. A small sight radius, so longer shooting will be a challenge; but a real feely of a gun.

A 1911 sounds like it would really do the trick.

I'm not crazy about 1911's, shot my buddies Kimber SIS and did not like it. I have fond memories of shooting my 1911 in the 80's with a pair of parchmyers on it, but present encounters with it leave me a little short. I think the best gripping pistol is a P7M8 or a P30. The SIGP225 is very nice, though the USP9C is nicer especially in stainless, have her try out a P2000, or P2000SK too. I think the 1911 is over rated, and like the M1A there are those who have raised it to sacred levels. My father was in the big war and hated the pistol, lost friends to AD's.
                            Seriously missing the 80's.....
