If I get an old Glock...

Say Gen 1 or Gen 2, can I interchange all the parts with current Gen 3 parts? Minus the slide and the frame.

Most the parts are interchangeable between the generations. If you just send the gun to glock they'll give it a complete look over and replace any worn parts. I believe this is a free service.

I was actually thinking of doing something absurd and buying a used early model Glock. I kind of like that nostalgic feel. Weird huh?

What's wrong with early model Glocks?

Nothing, I'm just inquiring before I buy so that if I do break a spring or guide rod I'm not searching everywhere for a new one.

isnt there a big differnce between 3 pin and 2 pin glocks? or is that just the slide lock that is affected?

Most parts are interchangable. Some may be different as many parts have been upgraded over the years. But dont fear, every part is cheap and easy to replace, nothing is out of production.

Just the locking block and slide stop are different (and of course the frame.)

I love the non finger grooves on the older models. Makes just about any hand fit it better. The whole finger groves fit like a glove thing doesn't work for everyone.

I just fired an older 2nd gen M19 tonight at the range. It is a very low round count gun, like perhaps a full mag was put through it. I fired off about 180 rounds with the only problem being one time the slide not staying back on the empty mag. Older Glocks are still very cool to me.

The problem here is the magazine and not the slide or slide stop/release.

I posted a WTB thread. Looking for a Glock 19 2nd gen near LA or Santa Barbara. Thought it might get more exposure here.

Also is glockparts.com a reputable place to buy parts?

Glockparts is a great place to do business with.

Some parts will not interchange by themselves, sometimes several parts need to swapped. The extractors have had several changes over the years, the slides were also changed for the new style extractor. Though I believe they can still be interchanged

I've bought parts from Glockmeister.com several times. They are friendly, knowledgeable and have good customer service. If you get an older Glock I wouldn't bother changing out parts unless you are having malfunctions with the gun.
