    sand+sig= no cycle

I was camping this weekend and dropped my sig p250 on the floor of tent which had minimal sand. I noticed as I picked up the gun that there was a little sand in the recess where the slide meets the frame. I manually cycled the slide and it locked back past the slide release. I have cleaned the slide, grip module and frame decently but it worries me that such a little bit of sand would prevent the slide from cycling...

My question... is this normal for most or all handguns or are some better at handling debris? I could not imagine relying on this gun in a sandy environment after this experience.

      I'm just guessing here.
Quality guns are made with very tight tolerances. A small amount of debris can definately cause a binding = slide will not cycle normaly. My sugestion is stop trying to cycle your sig except to take it aprat and give it a good cleaning. Forcing any sand grains to rub along any surface will cause at a minimum scratching.

+1, there's a reason SIG didn't make the ATF cut and Glock/S&W did.

Because the Glocks and S&W's are cheaper.

Another Sig problem. Seems like the latest gen guns from sig have some issues. It seems like I'm hearing about problems with newer Sig's on an almost weekly basis.

They performed better, and are cheaper! But yeah, German > Cohen made SIG. Ex SIG owner 4 times over. 1 German and 3 US made. Loved the German 220 but there's far better 45's avail.

I would stick to the more classic series Sigs if your looking for to hell and back reliability. Say a P220, P226, P228, P229, or P239 the P250 or whatever has had problems here and there from the beginning from what I've heard here on Calguns. Particularly if you buy that particular pistol from turners they have had problems did you buy it from Turners? I'm sure I could drop my P226 in a bucket of sand shake it around and it would do just fine.

I've had more problems with my Glocks than my Sig now thats my personal experience people that have never owned a Sig don't comment on the above statement please just because a Glock might be your only child. I'd buy an M&P now days before I'd buy another Glock and I do however love my Glocks though.

More Sig quality drama queens?! Please.

If you want a utility gun join the glock fanboy club.
If you want to join the Sig gripe fest club buy a new 2022 from Turners.

If you want your nice auto pistol to operate smoothly, keep it out of the sand and keep sand out of it.

Any and all guns can seize with the right sized pebble in the wrong spot. That being said, get a Glock.

Exactly....Not to mention, the p250 is still new in design. A p226 would have no problem!
