    Fitted barrel question

I just broke down my SP01 and noticed the barrel had some lee-way side to side but was solid in place front to back. I was wondering how this might affect my accuracy and if a fitted match barrel would mean that the barrel would have no lee-way.

I assume it would reduce accuracy along the horizontal plane but I figured someone here would know whats up.

Are you checking it when the gun is locked up and ready to fire? The only time that barrel movement matters on an auto is when it is in full battery. If you can move it then you've got problems.

A barrel that has no side-to-side play may be more accurate because it will remain stationary as the slide/barrel assembly recoils. This time is critical for accuracy because the bullet remains in the barrel and does not clear the muzzle until the slide has recoiled about an eigth of an inch. If you watch slomo videos of semi-auto pistols firing, you'll see what I mean.

One of the reasons Sig P210's are so accurate is because there is no side-to-side play between the barrel and the slide as well as between the slide and the frame.

Interesting I'll have to check that out.
