Help me choose between XD9 subcompact black vs XD9 Two-tone Security!

Hello Guys,

I have the option to get either the XD9 subcompact in black OR the XD9 Two tone(stainless) Security model. I like the compact becus its compact BUT for some reason that two tone bling is also attractive to me. Which do you guys think is more desired of the two, which would be more reliable? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. By the way, $ is not the issue, i just want to know what you guys have experienced with either of the two.

Thats true, i already have two stainless S&W 59 series. But do you think the extra barrel length will make a big difference in accuracy?

the XD9SC is actually extremely accurate for a 3" and one of my very favorites

What is the firearm's primary usage? If it's going to be concealed, then the sub compact.
If it's a nightstand / range gun then go with the Service model. If it's going to be a home defense gun I'd go black slide rather than the stainless. Fullrearview makes a good point about the stainless reflecting light, not an advantage you want to give to the bad guy.

I found that my hand was a little big for the SC, I have both Service and Tactical models and I am more accurate with the Tactical. My old eyes needs every bit of a longer sight radius I can muster.

As far as accuracy concerns go, my XD40sc is one of the most accurate guns I have ever owned or shot for that matter. I took a female friend shooting for her first time last week and she shot it the best as well, better than my 9mm or 22 for that matter. She was punching out the x ring in her targets by the end of the day with it and did just fine with the recoil.

I'm not a fan of the sub compact, but I second the accuracy on the XD9SC. For its short barrel, its kind of a brick and feels awkward when compared to the 4" XD. I've had problems not limp wristing it when doing double taps. The 4" is very comfortable in my smaller hands.

The XD will be just for fun and plinking. I already have a glock 19 and S&W5906 i have for home protection. It will probably be locked in the safe and used as a beater gun and dont mind scratching up. Also i do have small hands and thats why I like the Glock 19.
Will i need an mag extension like the Glock26 needs for you hand to fit comfortable or will my pinky finger be hangin off of the subcompact model? Thanks for all the input guys.

People will tell you barrel length + sight radus will make the biggest difference with accuracy. 1st and foremost, its training, then feel and fit, then the science of it. Again, my .02!

Good example was my recent range report....Even though my XDM 3.8 has a shorter barrel, and sight radus(barrel quite a bit, sights are only off by about 1/3 inch), I shot simular groups with it as my duty USP40....Only thing is, I was 10 and 8 yards further with the XDM.

Feel and fit makes the XDM the best pistol I have ever shot right out of the box. Next would be the Sig P226r, in both 9mm and .40. Im a better shooter with the sig, but it took awhile to get there.

Just re read your OP. Reliability is great with both. It all comes down to what you are going to use it for. CCW?

Even without old eyes. I have several including a sc and tac model. The subcompact may be accurate, but the service will be a much better shooter.

I have shot the sc in compact IDPA matches and it is much less friendly to simply change mags and chamber. However, you can't beat the concealment.

More than likely your pinky will hang off. My pinky will hang off if I'm paying to much attention on my grip when I'm just plinking. When I train with it though I noticed I somehow get my pinky on the grip comfortably without realizing it.

Get the XD9 SC in black and then later when the finish starts to wear off or just want some bling get the slide hard chromed in either matte, brushed, or super bling.

If you are looking for just a plinker may want to go with the service. I have the subcompact and I like it a lot and like the idea of being able to pack it easily if necessary and I use it as my HD gun with a light mounted. It is very accurate, but if your planning on shooting for accuracy while plinking your best bet will probably be the service. As far as grips go, either the Pearce or XD grips make it a perfect fit if you don't want to shoot it completely SC.
