Yep, that's the goal of California's handgun registration via DROS. The antis want every unregistered handgun to go through the DROS process and become "registered".

The only way to buy a gun in California is through an FFL whether is be from another individual or from a n FFL's inventory. There is no meeting at a McDonalds and swapping cash for gun in California.

Now yes you can buy a gun that has not been registered and during the legal transfer at an FFL the gun will be registered to the buyer. Prior to 1992( or right around there) handguns were not registered, son there are many out there that are completely legal that have never been registered.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

      and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

You are forgetting antiques and curio & relic long guns...any antique gun, or any curio & relic long gun can be sold face to face at any McDonalds parking lot...no FFL required...although I'd recommend somewhere with better food.

Cartridgeless black powder firearms are also exempt from having to go through a dealer.
