    Please help...XD9 in L.A.?

    Okay Guys...
...my wife finally agreed to let me buy a handgun for "home security" and for father's day! After reading countless reviews, I've decided to go with the SA XD9 3" Compact. Just having a kid and all, our pocket isn't as forgiving as it used to, so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on where to get a great deal on the XD9 in L.A. or surrounding areas (i.e. Pasadena, Burbank, SFV, Glendale) and for how much? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for any advice before hand!

If I could get one from one of my vendors, I'd sell it to you a 3" XD9 for $530.00 (plus tax and DROS of course). Unfortunately, everyone seems to be zeroed out at the moment. 4" are available in droves.

Best price would be to get a used one. I bought an XD40 Bi-tone brand new from turners and it came out to around $570 or a little more after taxes and DROS. This was a few years back so the price may have gone down a little. I always see a few XD for sale used around the $400-450 price range so maybe if you can hold out for a used one?

Can I ask why you want the 3"? If it's for Home Defense, a full size service model might be a better choice.

id recommend you getting a feel for a couple different models first. reviews are one thing and your personal feeling is another.

thats as much objectivity i can try to squeeze out without the glock-ade getting hold of my body

I agree...don't really wanna "jump the gun" without shootin' it first. I think I'll go over to the LAX range to give it a try along with other models and makes. Thanks for the advice.

Ditto on why the 3inch? Have you shot one yet? Is your wife going to shoot the XD as well? The reason I ask is that my GF was looking for a pistol, and we tried the XD9 in the 3 inch flavor. She didn't like the recoil at all, it was too light and the barrel too short. Just something to consider for your wife's sake (both HD and target practice).

If you've got your heart set on it, then by all means go for it. If this were to be a HD for either of you, I'd get something that fit both of your hands (single stack 9mm perhaps)?

Ammo Bros had the 3" XD9 a while ago, call first after you decide!

                      Martin B Retting gun store

In LA, go to Martin B Retting on Washington and just west of Sepulveda.

they by far have the best prices i've seen on XD's. I own 5 of them so I know. 3 of which i bought at turners to my regret and the other 2 i bought at Retting. The going price without sales and promotions for your XD9 subcompact is $469 the last I looked. I'm going there today to pickup a rifle, i'll let you know if they have any.
