Glock 19 vs 34

What is the difference between the two?
both are 9mm but the 34 is more expensive and supposedly competition model right?
If I had the chance to buy both at the same price, why shouldn't I get the 34 over the 19? Any thoughts are appreciated.

The G19 is more concealable and I've been told it's the most popular out of the 9mm models. The G34 is more accurate and less popular. This might be why it's more expensive.

the G19 is a compact size, the G17 is a full size...those two are more comparable to each other. Both have 5.5lb triggers, standard slide release and magazine releases.

The 34 is a competition/specialized model with a longer barrel, the slide has a cut out to balance the added weight of a long barrel, a lighter 3.5lb trigger, extended slide release, and extended magazine release

The G19 has a short slide setup while the G34 has a long slide setup. The G19 has a compact frame and the G34 has a full size frame. What's your purpose?

Range and home defense. I like te feel of the 19 but was considering the 34 since the price would be within my range. Didn;t realize that the 34 is much bigger than the 19.

Strictly for home defense and the range a longer sight radius and a larger frame will be better as long as the frame fits your hand.

I'm with SAM. What do you want to do with it? It's really personal preference but I know all of us like to get some feedback from others. Home defense? Plinking? More info could help us help you. Personally, if you want one just to shoot at the range and punch paper you'll be happier with a 34 performance wise. Don't get me wrong, a 19 will do the same too it's just what YOU want to do with it. Make a decision soon as I've noticed the supply of 3rd Gen Glocks is getting low and I can see prices rising in 2011. Hell if you can swing it, get both. LOL. Good luck on your search.

I have a Glock 35 .40cal and I picked it over the G17, G22, and G23 because of the longer sight radius. I removed the factory sights and replaced it with Sevigny competition sights and removed the factory mag release with the Larry Vickers Mag release. The factory mag release stuck out too much for my hands.

I was thinking about the Glock 34 but I wanted more take down power so I got the G35.

I recommend getting the G34 as your primary and the G19 as a back-up

If this is going to be used for your HD and some target shooting then I highly recommend leaving the trigger setup and barrel alone.
