how to mount a flashlight to a P229 without rail

    hello

I hope you can help me. I'd like to mount a flashlight to my sig P229 which has no rail. are there other options like magazine flashlights or whatever?

    thanks a lot!

I think there are a few companies that make an aftermarket rail that attaches to the trigger guard like this:

I've seen some that mount to a magazine. My one reservation is if you need to change magazines you essentially lose your illumination. Whether it be through reloading, magazine malfunction, etc.

While not technically illumination you could mount Crimson Trace Grips or carry a light in your off hand.

Or hell if you don't care about appearance you could rough up both mating surfaces and epoxy one on there. Just be sure it doesn't interfere with operations such as changing battery's, etc.

I'm sure someone will chime in with something a bit more reasonable.

I have the CAA Picatinny Rail Mount along with a Streamlight TLR-3 for my SIG P228. A very nice and secure fit. The mount should work on a P229.

It's made for a P226, but it probably works for a P229 also (although the rail might stick out in front of the muzzle plane). http://www.surefire.com/MR14-Mounting-Rail
