    30 Restriction Question

Forgive the noobish question. I cannot purchase a handgun from my FFL right now because I just got a Glock 23. I also want to purchase an HK USPc.

Now I already know that I can do a private party sale, meet them at my or their FFL and complete the transaction. I can also pay them and have them ship it to my FFL to complete the transaction.

But what about online sites like gunbroker, gunsamerica, etc? If I purchase from an FFL on one of those sites and they ship it to my FFL, is it still exempt from the 30 day restriction and considered private party or is that a no go?

I think that I cannot do that and must purchase from a individual but I wanted to double check.

    Thanks for the help.

I believe the 30 exemption only works with ppt. You might be able to start te paperwork on the second gun early a's long a's you pick ip after the 30 days. I am not positive though.

I don't think you can even start the paperwork. It'll get kicked back. You have to wait "30 consecutive 24 hour periods". I think I'll just have to spend my time shopping the WTS ads.

Correct. Only PPT and consignment, and then only if the consignment is handled as a "split PPT"... if the dealer logs it into stock, the restriction applies.

Negative. You may not begin two DROS transactions within 30 days of each other.
You can have the seller ship to your FFL and begin the paperwork once 30 days has passed (30 days from the first DROS, not 30 days from pickup), but before doing so, I would verify with your FFL that he is willing to hold onto the gun for the 20 days or so without charging for storage.

Or.... Get the BATFE paperwork and get an 03FFL ($30 for 3 years), and apply for a California COE (about $100 or so including the Livescan fees). If you apply tomorrow, you'll probably have both within 2-3 weeks, and you will then be exempt from not only the 1 in 30 restriction, but will also be exempt from the AB962 handgun ammo restrictions that begin next Feb if the CGF is not successful in obtaining an injunction.
