    .22 Conversion kit

Does anyone know for sure if a Colt .22 Conversion kit can be used on a series 80 frame? I've herad conflicting stories.

Depends on the kit's year of manufacture. My ACE conversion kit circa 1940 will not. Any Kits made after the safety change will.

I don't believe any of them made pre series 80 will fit/work. Other folks may make compatible kits - I don't know if Colt has a Series 80 conversion...

Colt offered the Ace II conversion kit a number of years ago that was a series 80 style. It bears little resemblance to the real Ace as the Ace II has an aluminum slide and one piece barrel (similar to a J Arthur Ciener conversion) versus the original steel slide version with the floating chamber. I have one of the Ace II conversion kits still in the original box and it is more of a conversation piece than a great piece of workmanship.

That's right. Every once in a while an Ace II conversion kit pops up on GB...
