The Ruger SR9C is legal in CA.
There are also two versions of it on the approved list.
BSR9C-10L (Black) / Alloy Steel Slide; Polymer Frame Pistol 3.5" 9mm 3/17/2011
KSR9C-10L (Brushed Stainless) / Polymer Frame; Stainless Steel Slide Pistol 3.50" 9mm 2/3/2011sigpic

I have a SR9C and Id have to say its probably 1 of the most fun guns I have to shoot. Its double action and yes it is obviously legal in California. Its an awsome gun Id recommend it to any1 interested in a fun 9mm or a concealed carry gun its an all around great 9mm from ruger. Its about damn time ruger got into making a compact striker fired pistol, those big P series guns we big tanks lol but still great guns.Comment

It doesn't seem like it is a double action from both my handling of the gun and the video reviews ive seen of it. The trigger has basically 0 take up which means it just releases the striker.
The glock is much much closer to double action because the rearward motion of the trigger as u go through the take up actually finishes cocking the striker. Then releases it.Comment

Thats not true on my SR9C when I put 1 in the chamber the firing pin is only half cocked then when you press the trigger safety and pull the trigger it cocks fully and fires. It doesn't seem like it is a double action from both my handling of the gun and the video reviews ive seen of it. The trigger has basically 0 take up which means it just releases the striker.

Hmm I don't know. I think it doesn't seem like it half cocks at all. I remember when I handled it seemed to just break as soon as the force was applied to it.
Here is a video that shows the practical lack of take up of the sr9c
