In preparation for when CCW is shall issue...

I've been thinking about picking up something with more punch but is still as near portable my Smith 442.

I'm not a fan of Glocks but are there really any good alternatives to the Glock 27? It's small, generally reliable (my Model 22 has not been but that's probably just the luck of the draw, packs the maximum cap for Calif. and fires a round that has a pretty fair track record.

I like the PX4 Sub Compact but it's not Calif. legal.

What are some other good alternatives? Find an older Smith Model 19 or Colt Detective Special?

Any one thinking about what to carry in the "two weeks" when shall carry becomes reality in Calif?

this, i'm almost completely sold on the xd40 subcompact. It was sweet, and i had the guy go through it and a Glock compact in 40 (idk which). I think a 38 snubby is my first choice (price reasons) but an XD subcompact would be #2 for me. they are sweet. I'm having the same thought too, time to start looking for what i want for CCW!!!

I have a xd9 subcompact for when I get a ccw. I hold this gun way more steady and shoot so much more accurate than my other handguns. It just feels like perfection in my hand.

I would stick with the S&W 442. It's an excellent CCW gun: lightweight, easy contours to conceal, accurate, dependable and easy to use. I think .38+P is plenty powerful for a CCW gun and mine is never left behind like the others are unless I absolutely have to (while at work).

My other CCW guns are a Glock 26 and a Glock 36. The 26 is a nice gun and is a little easier to conceal than the 36 because of the shorter handle. However, the Glock 36 is significantly thinner than the 26 and of course more powerful with .45 but with less rounds. I prefer the G36 out of the 2 because of the power; the thin profile is easy to conceal, the grip is a little more comfortable because you can place all 3 fingers on the grip instead of 2 and it is just plain fun to shoot. If I had to choose one or the other it would be the G36, but if I had to choose 1 out of the 3 mentioned, it would most likely be the S&W 442 because of the above mentioned reasons. It is definitely the easiest to carry and I don't feel underpowered with it at all.

Compact 100KW laser, since by the time CA gets shall issue they will be the new police standard weapon.

On the off chance it actualy happens in my lifetime, either a commander type 1911 or a Ruger SR9c
