    Dan Wesson Pistol Pack

My buddy wants to trade his cz c75 clone plus accessories(Tanfoglio with mags) for a Dan Wesson 357-I saw it last night-

The owner of the Wesson carried for years -its a Monson. He said he had:

    Grips
    Three barrels
    The Box and Wrench

    He showed up with:

A Sweet Wesson with a 3.5-4 inch barrel-on one 3/4 inch portion of the barrel, the dark bluing was worn to shining metal-definitely major holster wear.

one wood grip(the gun looked like it had a rubber hogue monogrip on it-not factory)
    a case thats not original
and no other barrels-the 2.5 is "gone" and he "can't find" the 6 inch right now.

I figured that the trade was really good for my buddy with all the barrels and accessories but I told him to pass on the deal presented last night until the 6 inch barrel was found at least-
Did I give him the wrong advice?

Good advice. Te Dan wesson is worth 300 with only one barrel and the condition you described. If it has the other barrels it would be robbery if you trade a witness for it.

CZ75 Clone for a well worn DW with only 1 barrel. This is a tough one. I think the DW's are fairly valuable. However, the excessive wear might offset the high value.
If my gun was decent quality and better condition, I'd probably skip on the trade.

Good advice. Besides, it's slimy to say you'll trade one thing and show up with something very different.

This would be a definite pass for me based on the principal of the person not delivering as promised. Now if he originally said he had one barrel and showed up with a pistol pack I might be a touch more forgiving ....

Those other items do make a difference. I sold one of my DW pistol packs (4 barrels, instructions, case, even the brown wrapping paper - for $1,400.00 a few years back and it spent all of 2 hrs in the gun store shelf before being bought.

It seems where the wessons where made. Gossip has it better quality.

It was the location those dw were made in. I termed says it is better than the other location but just like most things onthe Internet people make way too big of deal about it

Thanks for the replies-If it had the 6 inch barrel as well, would it be a good deal for my buddy? The owner swears he can track it down-

I recommended that my buddy come with me to see Jim Hoag(gunsmith) to see how much it would cost to put a little work into the Tanfoglio-its SUPER accurate but it does have a failure to eject every so often Also he has the original 20?rd mag for the CZ clone and two EEA Witness 10rders-

So-its Really a close one-I am thinking he might want to trade straight up if the guy can find the 6 inch, unblemished barrel-What do you guys think? Yes, no?

Thanks again! I am going to the range right now with my buddy to shoot the Tanfoglio and then to Jim Hoag in Canoga park(I am getting some advice on a possible Norinco 45 purchase for $400)-all advice is appreciated as both of the Dan Wesson and the Tanfoglio are kinda rare but only collected by niche collectors-

So-I went to the range to shoot the Tangy. After I shot my 22 and my new to me S&W 442 (I hated it-the trigger pull fatigued me after 50 rds), I shot twenty rounds right handed and twenty left handed at 20yds. What looks like a hanger was actually a one handed shot with a final round-

Not horrible for two months off and never shooting it before-Now I want it-

I beginning to lean towards having him keep this even if the other barrel for the Wesson is found-what do you think?

rekrab-I was actually offered a Norinco 45 for $400-I was going to go to Jim Hoag and ask about customizing one and if its worth it-thats another deal-So are you saying $400 is worth it on the Norky?

Back to the original post topic(Wesson for CZ 75 clone)I offered to take my buddy with me so he could ask about the Tanfoglio and if its something HE should modify- we will go by tomorrow and talk to him! He's a 1911 guru right? One of the original customizers?

Any more input anyone-its much appreciated!

They go for much more than that in free states according to gunbroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Bro...=3026&Items=50

Some people bag on them because they're Chinese, but they're made of extremely strong metal and will outlast you by many years. The metal is notoriously frustrating for smiths to work on because of its strength. If I had a chance to buy one for $400 I'd jump on it. Right now there's a customized one in the private sales forum for $650. They're rare because of the import ban, there's only a limited number of them floating around.

Thanks rekrab-I have learned to talk to people about my gun hobbie-its amazing who you meet! I was getting an eye exam and asked about an easy way to figure eye dominance -not only did he give me a cool tip,but he started talking about HIS gun collection and how his children aren't into the sport-within 30 minutes he offered to sell me three different guns for decent prices including the Norky-I'm checking it out next week and it looks like a fair price so...

Any more opinions on the potential Wesson trade anyone?

I grabbed a stainless framed blue steel upper Tanfoglio last year for $200.00 because it was in 41 A & E, it had been sitting used in the store for about 5 years I think. I bought a 9mm barrel for about $60.00 and now have a two barrel set up - A & E ammo is tight but I have about 300 rounds laying around. I have a CZ 97 and was prepared to not be too crazy about the Tanfoglio, but I like the gun quite a bit.
