It's OK if you like the beretta 92, but don't want to spend the extra 80-90 bucks to get one.

It's a clone where they took the safety off the slide and stuck it on the frame, which a few people preferr, because they can't keep their damn hands off the decocker when working the slide.

The .22 conversion kit is also available for the beretta at a similar price.

All in all, i'd say see how you like the slide mounted safety on a 92, then see how you like the frame mount on the Taurus. Go with whichever you like more.

Here's a long thread where you can find info:

        I personally would never buy a Taurus92 over a Beretta 92fs.

I looked at the Taurus last night at Turners. They did not have a the Berretta 92 but like the Berretta better in regards to the decocker. Quality is the same but would rather have the real deal than a copy with a moved decocker.

hehehe, Taurus was a Beretta second source way back when, and I believe the decocker was not moved by Taurus. The safety/decock lever on the Taurus is where it should be !!!
I have a PT92 and it's every bit as good as a Beretta. It was purchased at the same time as a Sig226 and a glock 19, and it was my best shooter for about 5-6 years until I got onto something else a lot more expensive.

$80 bucks saving for the Taurus is nothing...Instead for $80 you get a 500+ year old company's product. Second source or not...One says Beretta and another says Taurus. $80 does not make that disappear.

Between my family and 1 friend, they all have the Taurus 92 with a total tally of roughly 10k rounds at least. Zero failures of any kind as of yet. According to this website, it must be a fluke, but I'm just stating my observation. The Beretta's in the family have seen malfunctions though in a less amount of rounds fire, though only a few in total.

I'd get whatever feels better for you as the location of the safety really messes with some people. Some people will say to train to the platform that you have. I personally don't care if the gun say Beretta, Taurus, or Hi-Point. As long as it fires 500-1k rounds reliably, I would trust it for HD. For plinking, just about any new firearm these day would do just fine.

As a disclaimer, the Tauruses in my family were all make at least 15+ years ago. I don't know if the quality or QC has gone down since then.

                    WTB used AK MFER.
