    Slim Sig trigger?

Just recently purchased a Sig P220 from an online dealer and shot it for the first time yesterday. I noticed that the trigger pull was alot more rearward than my P228. The pistol fires when the trigger is pulled very far rearward, almost to hitting the grip. With my normal pistol firing grip, it squeezes the fat on my trigger finger since I have to pull it so far to the back.

Also noticed that the trigger is a very slim trigger looking more like an HK than a Sig. Is this a different type of trigger than the regular triggers found on 90% of Sigs? Is it a Sig short trigger or SRT?

That's a SIG short trigger or SIG short reach trigger. This just shortens the reach to the trigger face.

The SRT is a Short Reset Trigger. SRT reduces the amount of travel it takes the trigger to reset.

Your pistol came with the short trigger. I agree with you on the length of pull for the d.a. shots, I have to squeeze the trigger really hard to make it fire. The short trigger is great in single action though.
So um... moon labia or something.

that trigger does look a little thin. here is my old folded slide 220 and a newer stainless 220ST. you might try giving Sig a call and see if you'll trade you triggers

Yep that's a short trigger, not the SRT. I bought a Sig P226 Navy a month or so ago (which came with the short trigger as well) and was told that it is not unusual for Sig to send their handguns out with these triggers now. Could be a shortage on the regular triggers, but this is an optional upgrade from what I understand, if you get one consider yourself fortunate I guess.

Unless you prefer the regular trigger....

But yes, the Short Trigger is a custom upgrade that would have set you back $75 (shipping included) according to the Sig Custom Shop Price Sheet; but I noticed that they've changed the service to now include installation of a standard trigger as well. Maybe the Short Trigger is becoming the new standard.

So I guess no matter which trigger your Sig is shipped with now, it's a custom feature?

Wow that trigger kind of looks like the trigger on grayguns worked sigs. It doesn't look like the regular sig trigger.

If you're talking about the allot framed 220. the trigger started out as a regular trigger and was thinned to the med-size by Dale Marrietta (D&M Gunsmithing, now in OR) when he did the action work for me locally. it is the same reach as the Grayguns intermediate length trigger.

the custom sight set, rounded triggerguard, Conamyds, beveled magwell and slide were courtesy of Ned Christiansen (Michiguns)

the 220ST is a stock CPO gun that had been a LE trade-in. the only thing I've added is the Hogue Aluminum grips. it's twin is at GGI getting some work done...no, not the 10mm conversion

I have the same problem with my P220 Combat.

Thanks for all your great input. I've only shot it once and I think at this point i'd perfer the standard trigger. Seems like their out of stock everywhere so I won't be able to change it for awhile..
