Any Ruger SR9c owners here?

I'm considering picking one of these and couldn't find any threads here on it, so I wanted to ask how any owners liked these? Are there any known, common issues with them? Do eat up any ammo you throw at them? Is there anything that you don't like about it?

The couple of things I noticed when I handled one in the store was the sights and safety. The sights are Ruger's so called 3D sights or something like that, and they looked pretty cool, but are they any better than standard sights?

For the safety, I noticed that you couldn't rack the slide with it on. I've noticed handled a pistol with that feature before - does it get in the way or do you get used to it? Otherwise, the location of the safety made it very easy to manipulate.

Last thing I didn't like was the magazine disconnect, but I hear that you can remove it. Thanks for any replies!

Slide was extremly hard to rack and slide serration is sharp as knife,I cut my figertip few times ..Other then that Pistol shoot great out of box without Jam..

I'd say the advantage of an sr9 over glock and m&p is that the safety allows you to get a nice light trigger and carry "cocked and locked" so to speak. i wouldn't feel comfortable with a 4 pounds trigger on a glock or m&p.

nice video. makes me curious about the subcompact grip extensions. all of them (big 4) have it available either factory or aftermarket. would love to fire all 4 and compare.

I have a SR9 and a SR9c and love to shoot both. I don't know why but I shoot the C better than the fullsize. I have the stainless one and the serrations are not as sharp as others but if you get one like that it's a easy fix. So far I have had no issues with mine and it has eaten anything I have put in it. The sights are great and I like them because my eye sight isn't the greatest. As for the safety I like its location because it's not in the way with a proper grip and it's easy to control with your thumb. Yes you can easily remove the Mag. disconnect but remember it's a legality thing. Also Ghost makes some lighter weight trigger bars for the SRs if you want a lighter trigger. I'm happy with my SR9c and will enjoy it for years to come. Redhemi

I have the SR9C and the big brother as well. My wife also chose the SR9C. I own Glocks, XDs, various other things ... the SR9C is my favorite gun out of all of them.

It's an interesting gun ... slightly smaller than a Glock 19, but slightly larger than a Glock26. It feels tremendous in the hands, and I consider it every bit as concealable as a Glock26.

The trigger is very nice out of the box, and just gets egggselent after a few dozen rounds.

The slide is a bit stout at first, but works out nicely after a bit.

The sights ... what can I say? I think you're getting premium sights at a bargain price.

The mag disconnect doesn't bother me, but it's easily removable if you are so inclined.

Personally, I am of the opinion that a manual safety is a good thing for compact carry piece with a fairly light trigger. It's in a very natural, 1911-like position and just "snicks" perfectly when my thumb goes into place. It almost acts like a thumb-rest when in the disengaged position .. so no biggee.

I have a minor gripe about the slide stop (on the SR9C only) ... it's definately a SLIDE STOP and not a SLIDE RELEASE. I tend to rack-into-place as opposed to using the slide release, but it's a minor irritant that it's so danged tough.

They are routinely available for $399 if you look around a bit and watch for sales.

I just watched the nuttinfancy 3 part review on the sr9 and now have thoughts of getting one, I just wish they made a .45

zombie do you know anyone that has it in the highdesert area like apple valley, riverside area for that price. I havent found one yet and would like to pick one up in that price range. Any help from you guys would be great. Wanting to go shopping this weekend.

We, too, are seriously considering the SR9c in lieu of a G26 to go w/our G19. While the key issues for us are the manual safety and slimmer grip (more compatible with wife's smaller hand), a more subtle benefit is the 'no finger groove' grip. Unlike the G26, my wife and I are able to achieve a three finger grip w/o adding a finger extender to the magazine, a real bonus for concealed carry.

Agree with redhemi and zombietactics. I have the SR9 and SR9c and am very happy with them both - have put the SR9c on my Cal CCW application.

Thanks for reminding me of this. This is one of the advantages of being "in between size" of G19 and G26 ... it's really almost as small as a G26 while still allowing a all 3 fingers on the grip.

My wife has the SR9 (I prefer my XD40's). The only issue we have seen is the fact that there are no low light/night sights available outside of XS. Several companies indicate they are considering it, but otherwise it's a special order to have something put on.

I pick up my SR9C on Oct 1, so I can't tell you how it shoots, but I had fun buying it! I had narrowed my search to the SR9C and the Kahr PM9 (or P9). The P(M)9s are 7+1, about $700 to $800, but very light (though that makes for more muzzle rise.) The Ruger is 10+1, I paid $399, and the extra weight (though still pretty light) helps with muzzle rise. I think I made the right choice.

It is an awsome gun im with every1 else the slide is a bit still new but after 100 or so rounds it loosens up. as well as the slide stop/release. It is an awsome gun ruger is gunning for glock.
