    HK USP compact trigger pull

I picked up my USP compact in .40 cal about a week ago. I am very happy with my choice but I am dissapointed that HK made the first pull of the trigger so damn hard.
I thought that I read somewhere that there is a company making aftermarket springs for this handgun. Does anyone know where I can find those parts?
Can someone explain just how the LEM trigger works for this handgun?
Thank for any and all help.

Why do you shoot from SA, yeah I think that is what it is. But I do get what you are saying, there is the LEM trigger to fix it partially. Does anybody know if the LEM trigger eliminates the locked and cocked part? I def DO NOT want to do that, just get that 4.5-5.5lb trigger pull.

LEM is a DAO trigger. LEM models does not have any manual firing inhibit. Since it auto decocks, cocked and locked would be out of the question.

Also, first version USP LEM is pretty heavy and gritty. It's different from the latest LEM on pistols like P2000 or P30. I don't know of the latest vesion can be had in a USP compact. In any case, be aware of which version of LEM you're getting.

I have a fullsize and have practiced target shooting from DA. Drop a mag in, rack the slide, and I'm already in SA. I assume when it matters, adrenaline will help make the DA pull insignificant.

the da pull is hard. but why do you not carry it condition 1? the beauty of the usp is that you can safely carry it with the hammer back, like the 1911...

The spring is made by the company wolff. You can reduce the stock 14lb to 10lb. I did it to mine and am happy with the reduction

There is a reduced 12lb spring also

This part takes 30 seconds to swap. Very simple

              It is perfectly normal.

Rack the slide, then try the first trigger pull, it should be light and easy. If you try pulling the trigger again, without racking the slide, the trigger pull will be 20+ pounds.

Next time you dry fire, pull the trigger (after ensuring an empty chamber) and hold the trigger to the rear. While holding the trigger to the rear, rack the slide again and ease the trigger forward until you feel it re-engage (reset) and squeeze again. Each and every trigger pull should be light provided the slide has been racked.

What happens when firing is the action of the slide pre-cocks the gun making for that light trigger pull. With out the action of the slide you have no pre-cocking and thus a heavy trigger pull.

              Try it.

Do not assume what you'll be feeling in actual situation, especially if it's something that works in your favor.

My comments above were geared toward the LE version (I have both the USP 40 Compact and P2000). All my H&K experience has been with these two, both DAO, so I may be off the mark if there is a safety lever or double/single action involved.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this up... I've been meaning to ask the exact same question. I run 4 different Sig's, and 1 USP fullsize. That massive DA trigger pull is something I definitely need to change out.

I'll give that aftermarket spring from midway a try.

                    Thanks!

Most people at hkpro seem to get their trigger remedied by sending it to http://www.triggerwork.net/usp.html

I haven't personally tried Bill Springfield, but theres nothing but praise for his work on H&K pistols. He's had an issue or two with ARs, but I wouldn't directly relate that to pistols.

You could also send it to Grayguns. While they are mostly known for their work with Sigs, they do similar treatments to USP's.

I might be interested. Can you explain how the LEM trigger works, compared to the DA/SA?
                              Thanks.
