    Sig P250

So I was checking stuff out cus I'm bored and I ran across the P250. I don't know how I missed it before, but it looks pretty sweet. Are they CA legal? Anyone have any reviews or experience with them?

Supposedly there is a CA legal one but I haven't seen one yet.

Seems like both ATF and Federal Air Marshals DO NOT like them. So I'd advise against it. It is quickly becoming the one of the disappointing things SIG has done in years.

Wow, really? More info / link? I'd like to read more about it, I thought the 250 was going to be a winner.

Im on the fence right now as well....I hear things about the feds testing gone bad, but a guy I used to work with, who is a range instructor, uses it for his duty weapon and loves it. I really like the trigger. Nice and smooth. While it had a long reset, being DAO, its so smooth, you dont notice it.

The P250 is great as long as you don't put too much emphasis on reliability.

Actually I think the P250 is a good idea for kommie states like ours. Supposedly the owner can change calibers and barrel length, even the frame, all using the same serialized firing mechanism. We can buy the one on the "approved" list and then just switch out stuff.

Sig should work out the bugs and then push it in California.

Not sure why SigFan says they aren't reliable. And I would be interested in the "bugs" he is referring to but it doesn't sound like he owns one.

Mine has never misfed a round, including +P+. I just got the sub compact grip frame and it literally took me less than 5 minutes to change the compact into a SC. People seem to dog it on this forum but I don't see why. I do like my M&P and G19 better (the DAO trigger pull is long for me) but it's accurate and reliable. I can switch the frame sizeand still only have 1 "gun" (serial number). If you are the bay area you can PM me and you can try it out if you want.

Im sure he is refering partially to this report that was also linked to in the above post.

"In addition to the agents' rating sheets, a record was kept of any stoppages or malfunctions that occurred during the live fire testing.[3] These records show that ATF's agents recorded 58 stoppages with Sig Sauer's full-size and compact pistols, 13 of which were considered to be gun-induced and 45 shooter-induced.[4] Id., Tab 2, Competitive Range Determination, at 3.[5] In contrast, the agents recorded a total of 16 shooter‑induced stoppages for Smith & Wesson's guns and 7 shooter-induced stoppages for Glock's guns. There were no gun-induced stoppages recorded for the Smith & Wesson or Glock guns. Id., Tab 8, Contracting Officer's Smith & Wesson Evaluation Summary, and Tab 9, Contracting Officer's Glock Evaluation Summary.

The shooters' phase II evaluations of the offerors' handgun systems were provided to the agency's source selection board (SSB).[6] See Declaration of SSB Chair, Feb. 2, 2010, at 2. According to the SSB chair, "it was determined that any weapon that displayed numerous gun-induced or shooter-induced malfunctions was not suitable for agents to depend on to protect their lives." Id. at 3. Based on the results of the shooting tests, the SSB recommended to the contracting officer that Sig Sauer's handgun be excluded from further consideration as unacceptable with respect to reliability. The contracting officer reviewed the SSB's consensus reports and agreed with the recommendation that Sig Sauer's proposal should be excluded from phase III, based upon the number of stoppages recorded for Sig Sauer's handguns. AR, B-402339.3, Tab 2, Competitive Range Determination, at 1."

Read for yourself the direction of Sig and its bastard the P250

                  or pdf

I thought the P250 concept was a good idea originally, but the direction of Sig Sauer is laughable IMO.

Wow, that is pretty bad. Seems to be a hit or miss gun as I've been reading a little and some peoples' are flawless after several range trips. Thanks for the heads up

few older calguns threads on the P250, you can search P250 if you want:

If you like long pull smooth double action with a detachable magazine, then the P250 is for you. If you like taking up slack/crisp breaking triggers it is not for you.

Most people who say that don't shoot their firearm enough from what I've seen, the GAO posted had those handguns run hard for 20,000 rounds each.

P250 All Black 9mm Compact Sig Lightss.

As of recent I added to the family 2 of the newer P250's and I have shot at least a few thousand rounds through each of them. I had about 2 jams in one of them due to my stupid finger catching on the side of the slide. I heard a lot of negative things regarding this gun but im glad I took the highland way and ignored them.

The gun is well made and fun to shoot. It didnt take me long to nail in a group the size of your fist at 75 feet. thats about my limit distance wise cause I have bad eyes oh and I use those super bright orange muzzle loader targets so I can see the bullseye decent, then im golden.

One of the things I like the most on this gun is that it has such a smooth trigger (its one of those things you just have to experience for yourself) If your on the fence about this gun then I would suggest go to a range and most likely they will have one as a demo gun you can use. [/B][/B]
Another thing I love about this gun is that when you go to clean it you can pull out the whole trigger asembly and clean everything because of the module design. I love that.

One thing I dont like about this gun is that its grip is so comfortable that I have to walk around my house with them (in both hands thats why I have 2). Why does sig put that addictive grip pattern in the grip with those little cat tongue+60grit sandpaper like surface on it...

I think I own the most common of the Sig Sauer P250's, its in a 9mm 'all black' compact w/sig sights. Its the newer model with the picittany rail on the front not the curved looking rail ones.

I had to tweak the trigger return spring on my compact 45 acp model and have since put about 300 rounds of semi-wadcutters, ball and HD hollow points through it without incident. Yes, the trigger pull is long but it is smooth and an astonishingly accurate little pistol.
