A relative of mine asked me to post here looking for input on a good concealable handgun in .40 cal. Price isn't an issue...just something reliable and easy to shoot. The relative is retired L.E. Any input is welcome.

Or the Glock 23, ...In an inside the pants holster or under the seat of the truck.
Better all around size (colt officers) for normal hands if it fits your concealment requirements. (not much of a boot gun...
)
And, w/ either Glock, ...carrying an extra clip isn't all that important.Comment

Candidates
I would suggest the following:
1. Kahr P40 - Polymer, light weight, very thin.
2. Walther PPS - Polymer, light weight, very thin.
3. Kahr K40 - All steel, heavier, very thin.
4. Sig P239 - Aluminum, heavier, medium thin.
5. S&W "shorty forty" - Aluminum, heavier, medium thin.
6. H&K P2000SK - Polymer, double stack, heavier, medium thin.
7. Glock 27 - Polymer, double stack, heavier, medium thin.
It all depends on whether your emphasis is on extreme concealability or having more magazine capacity and some weight to absorb recoil.Comment

P2000SKOriginally posted by tuna quesadillaSure, a good 1911 will feed FMJ ammo flawlessly, and some of them will even feed JHP. But they lack the features that make the Glock the excellent pistol that it is. A 1911 is an enthusiast's toy, not a serious combat pistol.Comment

I prefer a Springfield XD subcompact.In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

I would have to say the Glock 27 is one of my favorites. I have others but it has the .40 cal and 10 rounds. That's great for a concealable weapon. And it's light and made of space age technology. There are those that can hit targets at 80 yds. with it. Here is a pic of it's compactness. You will need the extended finger grip as on mine. It's cheap. Also longer clips will fit in it.
