    Just got an XD9....

And I seriously love it. However I am running into one little problem. I cant seem to keep any ammo around!!! I've had it less than a week and already put all the 9mm I had through it. About 200 one day and 300 the next. At this rate I'm going to need another job just to buy ammo...

But in all seriousness. I've read the manual several times over and I still can't figure out what the hell that damn allen wrench is for that comes in the case. Anybody have any idea what this thing is for?

The hex wrench in the XD45 is to adjust the included holsters...maybe the same for your new XD9...Congrats on the new XD!

It's a nice gun, but I'm biased because it's my first

Did you get the service model or the tactical?

Yup, adjust the retention on the holster and mag holder.

Personally, the included holster isn't that great.

I said no way and got a Blackhawk Serpa Level 2 from XDpistols with some Leight muffs. The Blackhawk is awesome.

            Congratulations on your purchase!

I recently bought a 4" XD9. It is my new favorite handgun. Fits me hand well, points better than my Glocks and has had no malfunctions. Great buy. I would not use the holster and mag holder that came with it though. There are MUCH better holsters for this weapon.

Also my first and favorite gun. But I bought it back in the day when they were still HS2000s. Wish I bought 2, as they were only $260..oh well..

Thanks guys...I figured out what the wrench was for about 2 minutes after I posted it up.lol

                  Bishop,
I got the 4" service model and it is freakin awesome. I love everything about this gun. I used to like the p89 but then I rented an XD9 at the range and bought one the next day.

I usually buy my ammo online. My last buy I got 500 rounds of S&B delivered to my door for $80. I was very happy with that brand and I will probably place an order for a case in the next coming week.

Through my experience, at least on 9mm, Wal-Mart is the cheapest around because of shipping off the web. I think its around $15.xx for 100 round Winchester box. If you are gettin 500 delivered for $80 thats a good price.

Many newbies I take shooting have this idea in their minds that they want to shoot the big 45 etc. I always bring the XD9. Eventually they try the 45acp, they try the 357, and always love the XD9. I allways tell them 9-mm ammo is a good buy and when they get the hang of the XD9, they can allways try the bigger cartridges...but I tell you that 115-grain +p+ 9-mm load is pretty cool

I have two Springfield .45s, a GI and a Mil-Spec. I am leaning toward a XD9 for an additional gun. Price is over $500.00 though plus DROS fees, sales tax, etc

Congrats on the new XD. I've had mine for about 3 years now and have put roughly 10k rounds through it without a single misfire, jam, etc. I recently added a tungsten guide rod, #22 spring, and Truglo TFO fiber optic sights. A trigger job and match barrel will be my next buy.

I also buy the 100 round winchester white box ammo from WalMart. It's reliable, inexpensive, and tends to be pretty hot for standard ammo.

Good choice on the XD9! I have both the XD9 service and XD45 tactical and they are both shooters. When my XD9 was spankin' new, I cleaned and lubed it before shooting it the first time but still had a couple failure to feed and failure to return to battery. That was the first box of ammo. Since then I have put over 1000 rounds through it and had not problems. My .45 hasn't choked on anything, even some really questionable reloads I got from the gun show that I REALLY probably shouldn't have used.

XD9 is a great gun. I have the 5". Shoot USPSA Production and IDPA with
it. Switching to the XD9 from a Glock 35, I improved my shooting scores by 30-40%.
It just points more natural for me. Also 9 is a little easier on the recoil than the 40. Cheaper ammo also.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting
