Desert Eagle .50

Hey guys, I am considering purchasing a DE. I have shot one before in .44 and it jammed a lot. Pretty unimpressive.

I have a problem though - my penis - it is very small, and to compensate I feel I need to buy a DE .50. (that was a joke, it is just a cool novelty item)

Now - I know that in order to get the DE .50 in CA you have to pick up the DE 44 and convert it to the .50 - here's my problem - I want the gold one. I figure if you are going to have a novelty piece, it might as well be gold. Is this doable in CA?

By the way, I handled a Baby Desert Eagle and it wasn't too shabby.

I actually rented a .50 at the target masters years ago and boy that gun is a complete bad*ss. Firing it just once will quite down an entire range and have people thinking that you are the evil spawn of Chuck Norris and Clint Eastwood.

its very do-able. but you will have to jump thru some hoops.

as you already said, you must obtain a smaller caliber DE, then buy the conversion barrel. i recommend you get a gold .44 to start off (gunbroker), then try to obtain a gold .50 AE barrel from MRI direct.

for the finish, get titanium gold. its more durable than the standard 24k finish. which chips, fades, and tarnishes over time.

or you could get a robar Np3 finish, which is what my 44 magnum DE is currently finished in

I did not know you had to go .44 first then to .50
I was also wanting to pick up a gold .50AE but really paid no attention to it since it was all "planned" - actually the 3 cal conversion package was what I was looking at.

in california you can not buy it as a .50. you must convert from a smaller caliber. you must also make sure your model is an XIX to avoid complications between caliber switching.

Is this something that LEO's can get around? Or is it no go all across the board?

Technically yes as all you need is to show LEO ID to buy a non CA approved handgun. However i dont see how you can justify the Desert Eagle as a duty weapon.

Also with the .44 unless its well broken in you need to run HOT ammo through it.

Not entirely correct, you can't buy a Gold DE off of Gunbroker unless it is already in the state and it's a FTF PPT, or you're a LEO. The only one on the list is the Black Oxide finished Mark XIX .44mag

If you want a new gun in a different finish you have to buy the approved one in .44mag, buy the .50DE conversion kit, and then send it out to get the finish you desire.

Don't get me wrong. I love Deagles. Just not the (throws up in mouth a little) gold one.

That sucks that the .50AE isn't on the DOJ list. It's cool that they're convertable, though. I didn't know that.

You'll have to buy the .44 mag first, in black, and then buy a .50 conversion, and then send it all out to be refinished. That, unless you're LEO or doing this via PPT, is the only way to get the gold one.

I have one of the original batch of 50's out of Israel and just love it. That thing is just a hoot to shoot and is so darn loud. It never fails to give me a big smile on my face when I'm having a bad day. Go for it. Heck, having both the 44 and 50 barrels is a great idea because 44 will be a lot cheaper to shoot no matter if you reload or not.

i don't think the gold one is available for california from manufacturer. only one model available for CA. you would need to buy the ca model and send it back to refinish... i wanted the satin nickel... so I did it this way.

correct about the conversion since only .44 is on the approved list.

2. I would stick with the black oxide finish-looks MEAN.
3. Whatever you do, definitely get the Hogue wrap around grips with the finger grooves. You're gonna need it when that thing goes off.
