    TLE/RL II vs Custom II

Any differences between these besides the TLE/RL's tritium sights and picatinny rail? Do they have the same trigger, barrel etc?

it was kind of vague exactly why they are so great besides that the parts go thru the shop together. on an ad it said the TLE/RL II has a 'match grade barrel' and the Custom II has 'match grade mccormick parts'

So does that mean the tle/rl has a better barrel? or the custom has better 'parts'?

Also note the TLE/RL II's front strap checkering.

I dont know the major differences, but I do like the TLE/RL II in stainless. Thinking of making it my first 1911.

I picked up the TLE/RL II. One thing that I noticed (or at least what it appeared to me) is that the black finish on the TLE is more of a satin finish, where as on the Custom II it's more of a matte finish. I think they're the same thing, but the ones I've looked at looked and felt slightly different.... different in a way that the TLE felt like it had a better and more durable finish.

For the $300 difference, you definitely get the 'match grade' parts, front checkering, night sights, and front rail. IMO, those alone are worth it since it would cost that or more to get those parts, and it still wouldn't have a rail that looked factory.

The way it was explained to me by someone who is very knowledgeable is that they are the same pistol with minor cosmetic differences, internals are the same. The TLE is LAPD swats pistol and the only difference was night sights, front strap checkering, and rail. He stated that since Kimber was making them anyhow, they may as well put them in the catalog and sell them under a different name.

mjv is correct. The only difference between the TLE and Custom II is the frontstrap checkering and fixed night sights. The TLE/RL II adds the rail.

The finish is the same. Just as crappy.
