A CA LEO may purchase an off-roster handgun, and later PPT it to any non-prohibited person.

Why do you need it in such a hurry n00b?

Just kidding.. all the stated above info is correct. I'm unsure of how long the transfer window is. I know when we get letters for firearm purchases (through the department) it says for "NOT FOR IMMEDIATE RESALE".

sounds like he's buying it on his own which is cool too.

all the above information is correct, I'll just add that before you go to the trouble, you might do some research on the 238's feeding issues

+1 I'd stay away from the P238. They have like three different types of magazine out there right now for the P238.

P238 is absolutly amazing, I have 300 or so rounds thru mine and not one Issue. Stick with sig mags only they are pricey but run perfect.. These blow Lcp's any any other micro compact out of the water with accuracy and overall reliability. I know two others than carry then as well of duty for summer time and love em.

As for waiting time on xfer I would think 30 or so days should minimize raising flags, many of us buy a gun and try it out for a month and sell it after realizing it's not for us. Sounds reasonable!
