    xdm

What is special about it? I'm sorry to be so behind the times I know it came out a year or two ago.
All I've seen is match barrel and revamped trigger??
    Is that it??

and why is it illegal in cali?

and lastly if a LEO does get it does he or she have to pay extra?

    match grade barrel
    shorter reset on trigger
    better grip
    looks freaking awesome
    serrations are much better
    19 + 1 rounds with 9mm ( that's a lot of fire power) but in cali that doesn't matter
but unless you get one through PPT or if you LEO, the xdm is a no no

it's not on the freaking list
    i want a bi-tone in 9mm so badly ;(

The XDM has interchangeable backstraps, normal, small and large. Oh and it looks like a gun that robocop would have.

I think the grip is the biggest improvement over the original XD.

              XDM

Magazine capacity is one of the biggest selling points for the XDM. So with the Cali restrictions you can just get a normal XD and convert it to an XDM. Trigger, Match barrel.

I'm highly contemplating getting one of these bad boys. Does anyone know how the reset compares to a Glock? I've been out of state for almost three months and I haven't bought any new toys since February 2009. I think it's about time. I had an XD45 that I really liked but sold to fund my AR-10.

The XDM is not illegal in CA. It cannot be shipped to, or sold by an FFL in CA because it's not been certified as "safe" by CA DoJ: http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

Magazine capacity, match barrel and trigger, oh ya and magazine capacity Aesthetics wise it looks much more sleek than the regular XDs IMO.

If it had a long enough barrel and a fixed zero round magazine, I don't see why it couldn't be shipped to Cali.

It is not specified specifically on the DOJ Safe Handgun list.

convert a xd to a xdm?
they have the same gritty trigger. best thing you can do is just send your xd here at http://www.springerprecision.com/

im also not impressed with the match barrel because its not a tight fit between the slide and the barrel. i sent my xd here http://www.barsto.com/barsto_guns.cfm?ID=XD5 for custom work and its night and day compared to my xdm.

perhaps the only great feature on the xdm is the interchangeable backstrap, the increased mag capacity in the 9mm and 40s&w (45acp remains the same) and you need not fire the trigger to disassemble.

If you are local you can try mine out to decide for yourself. Personally and as someone stated above, my M&Ps see more range time than my XDm.
