Glock fixed sights

This might be a rookie question, but can the fixed sights be changed out for trijicon night sights? My G22 came with night sights, so I'm not sure.

Does adjustable sights mean I can only add/remove nightsights or any other sights to this weapon?

I know what fixed and adjustable means in terms of M-16 platform....

Yes, you can swap out Glock sights. In fact you can swap out the sights on most guns. Adjustable means the same thing it means for rifles. You can adjust windage or elevation, usually with a tool, similar to how you would in your M16.

Yes you can switch out the factory Glock sights to an aftermarket one.

Adjustable sight are what it is. You adjust them accordingly. But I dont see any reason why you would want them if your not competing.

I do not shoot comp. so I will keep my $20 extra for adjust sights, and stay with fixed on my next purchase.


If you did "adjust" them, what distance would they be zero'd in at? Just curious.

It is easy to change the front sight on a Glock, but you should have a sight pusher for the rear. ie: Don't just go banging away at the old sight to get it out then bang in a new one...it will damage both. Have seen some videos on U-tube for making a wood jig to hold the slide while pushing the rear sight out with a soft tipped punch, but have never tried that myself.

Fixed sights means sights that cannot be adjusted without a rear sight pusher. The Trijicons are an example of fixed sights. Adjustable sights are adjustable for wind/ele. using only a screwdriver. Both can be installed on any Glock with relative ease. The front sight screws in (w/ red loctite to keep it in place), the rear sight drifts into the dovetail (via sight pusher or vise and punch).

I'd only put adjustable sights on a dedicated range/plinking gun. For an HD/duty gun, go with fixed sights.

Fixed sights should be zeroed for 25 yds. or so. That said, how much bullet drop do you think there is w/ a pistol? If a 9mm bullet is travelling at a modest 1000 fps, it traverses 100 yds. in a fraction of a second. IOW, if you can hold your gun steady enough, you can get hits at 100 yds. w/o much (if any) holdover. With holdover (or adjustable sights), you could probably engage targets as far away as 300 yds. (or more), but you'd be lobbing the bullets.

If, by "effective" you mean stopping power on a Goblin, then I wouldn't engage anything beyond 10-15 yds. unless there's REALLY a need.
