Ya but since I bought it used through consignment doesn't that void the warranty?

SA 1911 feeding issues

Nope. I believe warranty is transferable. I don't think they will ask.Comment

No, SA doesn't care if you're the 2nd or 100th owner, as long as it has not been radically modified, they will take care of you.
Give them a call, they will email you a shipping label and you will get your gun taken care of.
The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

try diff mags, ammo, maybe a new recoil spring and get in there and makesure everything is super clean.
if you still have problems talk to a gunsmithComment

Ya I just removed and cleaned the extractor/extractor tunnel and it looked like it had never been cleaned. Ill take it to the range tomorrow now that its cleaner and see how it runs. I also noticed that when it jammed if I reloaded the round and racked it, the cartridge went into the barrel fine. So it might be a combo of a dirty extractor and old, weak recoil spring. Thanks for the tip with SA though. If problems persist they will definitely be hearing from me.Comment

I'm going to suggest a very simple test. Thoroughly clean the gun, especially the feed ramp and slide rails, then OIL (not grease) the rails heavily. If you think you have enough oil, add more- if you think you have too much (oozing out under the rails), then it's probably about right. It will be a bit messy but retest using the same mags and ammo and see how it feeds. I know you said it already has 1K rounds down the pipe, but do it anyway and see if it is better.
Both of my SA Loaded models were tighter than a drum out of the box and without a lot of very good Tetra gun oil while breaking them in, the slide would seem to "stick" causing feed issues. I was able to test a "wet" gun versus a semi-dry (lightly oiled or greased) gun, and FTFs were only had during drier test firings. My original Loaded is broken in now and feeds everything perfectly with a normal coating of Tetra grease on the rails and Tetra oiled barrel linkage, etc. My newer Loaded isn't broken in yet so I run a heavier coat of oil in it.I voted against Obama before it was cool.
Originally posted by 1911LuvrI beg to differ. The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!Comment

I agreed with MUTE and ODDJOB that is the extractor is too tight, that is why the last round (lightest mag spring push up force) FTF, when you reload that round it will feed fine. Try to bend the extractor outward just a little a the time and see.Do it yourself.Comment

Could be:
Extractor tension
Extractor clocking
Mag springs
Mag feed lips out of spec/tweaked
Recoil spring
First, replace the recoil spring with a new one - standard weight. Shoot it. Keep track of FTF - what round number, what mag, etc.
If still having issues, go down the above list one thing at a time.
Under no circumstances should you polish the ramp.
If all else fails send back to SA.
Good luck.Comment

thanks everyone. Im gonna check tomorrow when i go to the range now that I have fully cleaned the extractor and tested its tension. (holds the round even when shaking but not too tightly). Ill keep my fingers crossed and hope its good to go. If not, I am sure I'll be back trying everyones suggestions because life is a b*tch with a malfunctioning 1911Comment

My bet is the extractor since I just recieved my sa gi back from the factory that I sent forthe same issue exactly. They replaced the extractor and I shot two hundred mix ammo today and no problems. If in doubt send it to them they didn't even ask when I purchased it just for the serial.Comment
